Jeans and a sweater: it’s that most boring of all outfit choices, isn’t it?
This it the kind of combination that blog critics would dismiss as boring and “un-blogworthy”: the kind of outfit that requires absolutely zero thought, and which most of us have worn at some point or other: maybe not in this exact colour combination, granted (I know a lot of you fear The White Jean, and I hear you on that: it’s nothing short of a miracle that these ones got through the day unscathed, seriously…), but, well, you’ve all worn jeans-and-a-sweater, haven’t you? Thought so.
It’s also, however, one of the combinations I feel most comfortable, and most like “myself” in: which is why I keep on going back to, even although I know it’s not particularly interesting. And actually, I’ll be honest: this outfit DID require quite a bit of thought – in fact, it was the result of one of those long, “trying on” sessions, which left my closet looking like a whirlwind had gone through it, and me stamping my feet in a tempter, while saying, “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR! WHY DO I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR?!”
Of course, I DO have plenty of things to wear: it’s just that, in this particular case, I was doing that “fashion blogger” thing of trying to pick an outfit that would photograph well, and be visually interesting, rather than just picking the outfit I wanted to wear, and knew I’d feel good in – which was white skinny jeans and a sweater. And I DID wear it, and I DID feel good in it – and, even better, without any prior planning on my part, it just so happened to blend in really well with the backdrop, too.
There’s a lot to be said for that good ‘ol jeans-and-sweater combo, folks: don’t let anyone tell you differently…
