Three Things Friday | Organisation, and other adventures
The first thing I have to report about this week is that, look, I successfully deployed another sticker from my planner!
(Oh yeah: and I also got a haircut. It doesn’t look anything like the one on the sticker, obviously, but I have to work with what I’ve got here, right?)
Unfortunately for me, that haircut turned out to be one of the highlights of what has probably been my least-favourite week of the year so far. Nothing bad, just more work-related stuff that I won’t bore you with: instead, here are three of the other highlights in an otherwise crap-tastic week:
01. Getting organised
When I’m stressed, I clean. When I’m REALLY stressed, meanwhile, I also organise. This week has fallen into the “REALLY stressful” category, so I bought these new inserts for my Ikea Malm dressing table (they’re the Ikea Billingen drawer inserts, but I got mine from eBay, because I didn’t have time to go to Ikea. I’m saving that for a special treat…), and spent a pleasant half-hour or so re-organising all of my makeup. I much prefer these inserts to the ones I was previously using (Which were also from Ikea, and from the Godmorgon range, just in case you’re way more invested in my dressing table situation than I could possibly have imagined anyone would be. I can’t find them on the website, for some reason, but I’m actually starting to bore even myself by talking about this now, so I’ll stop…), and once I’d finished organising them, I felt briefly calm, centred and at peace with the world. It only lasted for about 10 minutes, mind you, but damn, that was a pretty good ten minutes, for sure.

02. A catch-up with friends
One of my informal resolutions this year (Er, not that I made any formal resolutions, either, mind you…) was to try my best to spend more time with friends this year. I did a pretty bad job of that last year, all things considered, and unfortunately, I’ve had such a hectic start to the year that I’ve been doing a pretty bad job of it THIS year, too: whoops! It’s always a bit tricky to get people together these days, because everyone’s so busy, but we finally managed to get a few friends round on Sunday afternoon, and it was really great to see them all, and spend some time catching up. We ended the afternoon with the usual promises not to leave it so long next time, and I’m determined to actually try to stick to that promise: I can’t imagine I’ll look back one day and wish I’d spent more time at my desk, after all…
(Er, I pretty much forgot to take any photos this week, so the last two have absolutely no context whatsoever: sorry.)
03. Something to look forward to
Finally, this weekend, Terry and I are off to the island of Arran, on the west coast of Scotland, for a bit of a mini break. We’re not travelling very far, or staying very long, but I find I’m at my most motivated when I have something to look forward to, and this little trip has been my “something to look forward to,” for the past couple of weeks. I’m just reeeaaallly looking forward to being able to kick back and relax for a couple of days, and I am NOT packing the laptop (although I will obviously be documenting the whole thing on Instagram stories, so make sure you’re following me there if you’re interested…), so that alone should make it a good weekend, I reckon.
