6 Totally Impractical ASOS Evening Dresses I’d Try to Wear Anyway

So, it’s Tuesday afternoon (Quickly checks to make sure that it is, in fact Tuesday, because honestly, the days are all blending into each other at this point. Yes, still Tuesday! Small victories, people…). My house is filthy, the dog hasn’t been walked, I have approximately 15,000 blog posts still to write and schedule before my holiday, and I’m sitting here in my workout clothes, with absolutely no intention of actually working out in them. I should be slowly but surely ticking items off the ‘To Do’ list – or having a shower, at least – but instead I’m sitting here looking at ASOS evening dresses which I have exactly zero chance of ever having an excuse to wear. Because that’s a totally legit use of time, no?

Look at them, though!

Seriously, why am I not wearing this right out? Other than that it’s Tuesday afternoon, and I’m supposed to be cleaning the toilet, obviously?

I actually COULD probably wear this one to clean the toilet: because it’s scuba fabric, and that stuff doesn’t crease, trust me. And you’d never see the stains, would you? This post has actually taken a turn for the uncomfortable, so let’s pretend I DIDN’T just suggest that ASOS evening dresses are totes practical for cleaning toilets in, and take a look at this little beauty:

ASOS Curve evening dress

This is from the ASOS Curve range, and it’s so pretty that it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I literally died when I saw it. Well, OK, maybe a slight exaggeration.

It’s only an evening dress in the sense that ALL dresses are “evening dresses” IF you wear them in the evening? Right? But if you were to wear a cardigan over it, say, it would instantly be a “daytime dress”, and if that’s not a good enough reason to buy it, I don’t know what is.

Chi Chi London evening dress

OH GOD. Here we go again, with the Chi Chi London dresses, and the wanting to buy ALL THE THINGS. Honestly, I thought I was over this. It’s been, what, three weeks since I last obsessed over a Chi Chi London dress, after all? But now THIS. And this… well, it looks to me like it’s probably the same kind of print as this Chi Chi London dress. And that dress, people, is seriously one of my favourite things in the world ever. Like, it’s one of the things I’d try to grab if the house went on fire. One of the 15,876 things I’d try to grab (only around 15,000 of them would be dresses, though, in my defence…) It’s just so huge and structured, and it has pockets, and a little nipped in waist, and this one looks pretty much the same, BUT in a different print. And a slightly more “wintry” print, too. I know some people have strict rules relating to colours and seasons: I don’t, but if pretending I do allows me to justify another one of these dresses, count me in.

Also from the “this would be great for winter parties, but you’ll have to hope you get it before I do” files, is THIS:

I’m actually crying right now. ASOS, I kinda hate you, with your impractical evening dresses that we all know I’m totally lying about when I say I wouldn’t find an excuse to wear them. Because it’s not like I haven’t done it before, is it?

Don’t worry, guys: as always, I buy the ASOS evening dresses so you don’t have to: maybe I should start another “challenge“?

  • OMG, that Chi Chi London dress… it reminds me of that scene in Alice in Wonderland where the card soldiers are painting the roses red!

That Chi Chi London dress!!! What Laura said! My first thought was “Alice in Wonderland” (the Disney animation version); specifically, the scene where Alice meets those sassy flowers (cf http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121009234753/disney/images/d/dd/Flowers-from-Alice-in-Wonderland-disney-30758068-500-378.jpg). Gorgeous dress.

Love the baroque print dress. The print and stand collar recalls those brocade cheong sams and sheaths that were all the rage for evening in the mid-60s. Unfortunately, I would look like a settee in it.

  • My friend wore the baroque print one to a wedding over the weekend and it looks INCREDIBLE on. I’m so very tempted to buy it for myself after seeing it on her!!! xx
