I know I’m in danger of having my fashion blogger card revoked by admitting this, but autumn ISN’T my favourite season: which means that autumn outfits have always been a bit of a struggle for me.
Autumn’s a bit of a difficult time when it comes to getting dressed, though, isn’t it? It’s too cold for your usual summer looks, but not quite cold enough to break out the winter coats – or not always, anyway. Some years, autumn is almost indistinguishable from winter, and you’re shivering right from the get go. Other years, however, summer lingers on until you start to wonder if you’re ever going to get to wear all those cute autumn outfits you’ve been stockpiling.
Most years, though, you get a little bit of both: sometimes it’s warm, sometimes it’s cold – sometimes it’s warm AND cold, all within the same day. That’s what makes autumn outfits so problematic for me, and why I tend to just keep on returning to the same old fall formula every year: the tried-and-tested items that I don’t mind wearing over and over again, because I know they work. In my case, the formula tends to revolve around the traditional autumn colours: forest green, light brown, the occasional pop of yellow. A bit like a forest, in fact. Let’s not dwell on that thought too much, shall we?
Here are some of my favourite autumn outfits from days gone by – and possibly from days to come, too, because I’ve never been one to avoid repeating an outfit. I think the main thing we can take from this roundup is that although I don’t like the autumn weather, I DO like the traditionally “autumnal” clothing colours, and I stick to them like glue. The other thing we can take from it is that I need to stop looking off to the right in all my photos, because GOD, that’s annoying. (I do it because I look even MORE stupid when I stare at the camera. Still annoying, though. Maybe I’ll try looking to the LEFT sometimes? I mean, I THINK I can do it…) Just click on the image to go to the post it originally appeared in…
