We’re halfway there, folks!
(Did anyone else just mentally add the words, “We’re livin’ on a prayer!” to that statement, or is that just me?)
Just six more bardot tops, I mean Christmas outfits, to go, and it’ll be Christmas Eve. I’m actually a little bit disappointed, because I’ve been really enjoying this blatant excuse to wear some of my favourite clothes. Still, what can you do? You can’t halt the relentless march of time (If you could, I’d have stopped it on the one day of this year that passed for “summer”, just FYI…), so I may as well continue my Christmas Outfit countdown!
I’ve called this particular outfit The Ghost of Christmas Past, because I wore it (albeit with a different – although still gold – sweater) on Christmas Day 2013: mere hours before I almost burned my stupid face off with TCP , and had to greet all of the guests at our house party a few days later with my hair artfully draped over half my face. Nope, still not over it, apparently! The skirt was from River Island, and was purchased at the same time as the gold sequin one I wore on Day 1 of this series, so I guess 2013 was a pretty good year for River Island skirts.
Having worn this one on Christmas day, however, I have to admit, I’ve kinda struggled to know what else it could be appropriate for. This is the kind of challenge I like, though, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out: in the meantime, for this post I’ve paired it with this Collectif bardot sweater, which also comes in black and teal. I wanted to get them all, naturally, but settled on the gold version, because I used to have a very similar sweater when I was in university, and I’m pretty sure I cried when I finally had to throw it out, so I’ve been looking for a replacement ever since. There just aren’t enough gold lurex bardot tops in the world, if you ask me. Mind you, this is coming from the woman who bought two gold skirts in one week, so it’s entirely possible I just don’t know where to stop…
