The 12 Days of Christmas Outfits: Day 6 – The Ghost of Christmas Past

We’re halfway there, folks!

(Did anyone else just mentally add the words, “We’re livin’ on a prayer!” to that statement, or is that just me?)

Just six more bardot tops, I mean Christmas outfits, to go, and it’ll be Christmas Eve. I’m actually a little bit disappointed, because I’ve been really enjoying this blatant excuse to wear some of my favourite clothes. Still, what can you do? You can’t halt the relentless march of time (If you could, I’d have stopped it on the one day of this year that passed for “summer”, just FYI…), so I may as well continue my Christmas Outfit countdown!

I’ve called this particular outfit The Ghost of Christmas Past, because I wore it (albeit with a different – although still gold – sweater)  on Christmas Day 2013: mere hours before I almost burned my stupid face off with TCP , and had to greet all of the guests at our house party a few days later with my hair artfully draped over half my face. Nope, still not over it, apparently! The skirt was from River Island, and was purchased at the same time as the gold sequin one I wore on Day 1 of this series, so I guess 2013 was a pretty good year for River Island skirts.

Having worn this one on Christmas day, however, I have to admit, I’ve kinda struggled to know what else it could be appropriate for. This is the kind of challenge I like, though, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out: in the meantime, for this post I’ve paired it with this Collectif bardot sweater, which also comes in black and teal. I wanted to get them all, naturally, but settled on the gold version, because I used to have a very similar sweater when I was in university, and I’m pretty sure I cried when I finally had to throw it out, so I’ve been looking for a replacement ever since. There just aren’t enough gold lurex bardot tops in the world, if you ask me. Mind you, this is coming from the woman who bought two gold skirts in one week, so it’s entirely possible I just don’t know where to stop…

I LOVE the gold. It looks so classy and elegant, and this skirt in particular is fabulous. Before remembering (and reading) that you wore an outfit like this for Christmas before, I was going to ask if you were going to wear this this Christmas, because its perfect.

Lordy that skirt is a stunner, I don’t recall seeing it before (probably have but you know, kids make you forgetful) but I’m happy to see it again and again and…!

Happy week to go to Christmas! It’s been 15 degrees down here the last few days – I DO NOT feel festive.

There should be a link to its previous appearance in the post – it’s pretty much the same as this, though!

Ohhh. At the risk of sounding like a total creepy fan girl, I had a team about pink tulle skirts because of your post. In my dream I couldn’t find the perfect one. I can’t get them out of my head.. I think I might do it.

This outfit looks stunning. Your outfits are always so well put together and everything just seems to fit your perfectly. #goals 😉

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

This is really gorgeous! I love a gold sweater. I had to get rid of one the one I had because it was looking very well-loved. This makes me think I need to find a replacement.

I hope you can do more outfits inside your closet. I love the simpleness of the white in the back against your clothes.

I agree! As much as I enjoy the photos outside, there is something to be said about the closet ones.

Love the outfit. Can I ask if the jumper pings back onto your shoulders? I really like the style but it would drive me mad if I had to keep pulling it down! Thanks

No, it stays off the shoulders!

Also bought that jumper and can’t. stop. wearing. it. I don’t know what to do with myself when it’s in the wash, seriously!!
