So, it feels a bit weird to have published a post about that one time my husband had a kidney transplant, and to follow it up with one saying, “Look, here’s a dress!”
But look! Here’s a dress! And also a jacket, because there has been no effort spared on this post, folks: well, except the effort it would’ve taken to lint-roll the aforementioned dress, which… yeah, I should really have gone that extra mile, to be honest. Black really doesn’t photograph well indoors. Or outdoors, for that matter. (Also, I had to lighten this one a bit so you could see the detail on the shoulders of the dress: it looks better in real life. I’ll stop talking now.) Annnnnyway, this dress is an old one from River Island. Yes, River Island. You totally thought I was going to say it was from one of those retro-reproduction brands that cost a small fortune, didn’t you? Nope, it was from good ol’ RI, and I liked it so much I also bought it in a gorgeous shade of blue, which I actually prefer to this one, but which didn’t feel quite as “Christmassy” somehow. Because apparently I have strange, completely arbitrary rules about what counts as a “Christmas outfit”, and what’s just an “outfit outfit”.
This, for instance, is a Christmas outfit, but it could ALSO be an outfit outfit. Confused? I am. (I almost ALWAYS am, though, so don’t mind me…) I added the green jacket to make it extra Christmassy (and also because, as you know, I can’t get dressed without wearing something green): I bought this for my friends’ wedding a few years ago, and have been itching to wear it again ever since. I’m not saying I came up with this ’12 Days of Christmas Outfits’ idea purely so I’d have an excuse to wear stuff like this… but I’m also not NOT saying that, if you know what I mean? I think you do.
