50s style pink gingham circle skirt

I told you I was obsessed.

It’s worse than I thought, people. It looks like I’m not JUST obsessed with gingham skirts: I’m also obsessed with wearing them with this ASOS top, almost as if there are no other clothes in the closet. There are, of course, (and I promise this top had been washed since its last appearance!), but I do like a bardot-style top: so much so, in fact, that I might just buy some more of them.

Speaking of buying some more of things you already have, those of you with good memories might recall that I do already own a gingham skirt, and be wondering why on earth I needed ANOTHER one. It’s a good question, and the answer has three parts to it:

1. You can NEVER have too many gingham skirts, FACT.

2. My other one is red, whereas this one is pink: TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

3. My other one is much longer and fuller, which means that, as much as I love it, it can be a little on the dressy/costumey side if you’re not careful. This one is a little bit shorter, and a little bit less dramatic, which means it’s easier to wear with more casual looks. (Not that this is a particularly “casual” look of course, but you know what I mean. I hope)

The Easter weekend was miraculously sunny (Which made a nice change from last year, when it was snowing), so it was perfect “gingham” weather. Well, that’s MY excuse, anyway…

  • Gorgeous look! Wish I could pull off the pink, but I’m unfortunately one of those pale strawberry blonde redheads. I’d look like the wallpaper behind the gorgeous skirt.

Stumbled over your blog because of your Bobbi Brown foundation issue, glad I’m not the only one who wanted to swear at everyone when they discontinued my alabaster!

  • I love the top and totally understand you pairing the skirts with it (I do this with one particular top as well and pair all my higher waist clothes with it because I just don’t think anything else looks as good).

Also the red skirt has a bigger print no? Whereas this gingham is a bit smaller so it’s basically COMPLETELY different:) And you couldn’t wear these shoes with that skirt (well you could but you know what I mean). I love how the color of the shoes and the skirt matches and yet the polka dots versus the gingham makes it even more interesting.

Happy Easter (we had a sunny day too:)

  • I am absolutely dying to get my hands on that skirt, but I’m yet to find one in stock in my size. I love how you’ve styled it, especially with the gorgeous polka dot shoes. xxx

You look fabulous! Sorry to be so personal, but do you wear a strapless bra with the Bardot top? I love the way you can’t see any visible underwear!

I was about to ask the same question! Although teenaged girls have popularized the see-my-bra-strap look, which is handy sometimes (!), this is a fabulous look, and now I’m off to buy new underwear!!

As a fellow redhead I find that I struggle to work out what colours I can wear that don’t “clash” with my hair or wash me out as I’m pale too but your look just always works whether it’s wearing white, red, pink, yellow or anything that I’ve always thought wouldn’t work, somehow you pull it off! Very inspiring!
Can I just ask what you do with your old clothes? Do you sell them?

  • I have this skirt but I must admit I’ve not yet found an opportunity to wear it.
It looks lovely on you. I also am eagerly awaiting a chance to get my hands on the blue gingham dress that is supposed to be in stores.

  • I love a bit of gingham myself – cue when I saw a little blue and white number for sale at the vintage shop around the corner from work I hotfooted over, gave them my cash and dashed back with a huge grin on my face (much to the amusement of my all-male work colleagues!)

That skirt looks lovely on you – long may your gingham obsession continue!
