Inspired by Sarah
A few weeks ago, I was browsing Pinterest, when I came across this photo of Sarah Hyland, wearing a Boden skirt which I also happen to own, paired with a cute little short-sleeved sweater.
Well, naturally I couldn’t rest until I’d copied it. There was just one problem, though: or, actually, there were two:
01. I’m not Sarah Hyland
and
02. I may have the same skirt, but my closet is sadly lacking in a baby blue, short-sleeved sweater. The humanity!
Luckily, though, although I didn’t have a blue sweater (HOW HAVE I ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN?!), I DID have a blue cardigan. It wasn’t anything like Sarah’s sweater, but I turned it around (This is actually a little trick I use fairly often: by turning a cardigan around, so the buttons are at the back, you basically turn it into a slash-neck sweater. I know some people would find the buttons kind of odd, but I actually really like them that way…), and scrunched up the sleeves, et voila – a fifties-inspired sweater & skirt combo was born!
I wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago to a dinner to celebrate my dad’s retirement. He’s been counting down the days for… well, FOREVER, basically, so he took my mum, Terry and I out to dinner to celebrate. I’m happy he doesn’t have to work any more, obviously, but also slightly freaked out by the knowledge that he and my mum are now effectively on the loose all the time, because who knows what kind of trouble the pair of them could get into? Still, we had a lovely dinner, and I’m happy to report that absolutely no trouble was gotten into – not even by me, for once. There’s still time, though…
(P.S. If you’re looking for a sweater like Sarah’s, Lindy Bop have one I think would work…)

You always look beautiful (yes, even while crying with laughter or wearing a silk bandana), but you look particularly gorgeaus in this look!

Love the idea of wearing a cardigan that way! These pastel shades are perfect for spring/summer <3 You look so pretty, Amber!
Kristian
I actually like your outfit better than hers, though both are nice!
JoAnn Moran
I love the outfit as usual. Since I am busty, this cardigan look might work better for me. Do you button the sweater all the way in the back?
Amber
I do, but I guess it would depend on the cardigan/your shape!
Lily
Actually think you wore it better than Sarah Hyland.
I have no idea if you’re planning on doing a post on the R word, and if you are please forgive me saying this and ignore it in due course but: it was really nice to read something completely unrelated today.
Myra

Very cute! I see why you couldn’t resist recreating the outfit – it’s adorable on her, and I think it looks just as lovely on you. You fit in perfectly with your surroundings too, which is a really fun touch.

I would have never guessed you were wearing a backwards cardigan. What a great idea! Love how you match your surroundings so well.
