It’s not just an outfit post, it’s a whole new outlook on life…
You know those times when you wear an outfit you love, and you feel great in it all day? And then you get home and look at the photos you took of it (Er, I’m assuming you’re a fashion blogger here, obviously. Or that you take photos of your outfit for some other reason…), and you’re just like, “Holy hell, that skirt is creased like WHOA! Did I REALLY look like that?!” That’s what happened to me this weekend.
Now, I’m told by those who seen the skirt in the flesh (or in the fabric, rather) that it actually DIDN’T look quite so creased in real life, so I’m hoping it’s just one of those pieces that doesn’t photograph well. Some items are like that, and those are the items I normally don’t post photos of, for that very reason. I almost didn’t post these ones either, to be completely honest, but, well, that’s life, isn’t it? Sometimes your clothes get creased. Hey, I wonder if I should try to turn that into an inspirational quote for people to share on Facebook? Something like this, maybe?
It’s not profound because it’s true (It really isn’t: the ACTUAL “best” clothes are the ones that NEVER get creased, no matter what…): it’s profound because it’s written in a fancy font, and there’s a photo of a sunset behind it. You know? Now get sharin’, people! In fact, for every “like” this photo gets, I will personally cure a different form of cancer: that’s how these things work, right? Please tell me I didn’t just waste 30 seconds in Photoshop for absolutely NO reason…

YES to this skirt being one that doesn’t photograph how it looks! I have the same one and felt like it was a super awesome outfit day, then looked at the photos and it was crease city! It’s really annoying because it’s one of my favourite pieces to wear at the moment but just doesn’t doesn’t come across right in photos, argh!
Amber
I’m so glad you said that! I actually looked back at the photos while I was still wearing it, then went and looked in the mirror, and I swear to God it didn’t look like that! I was scared to wear it again, though, in case my eyes were deceiving me!

Ahh, your posts never fail to make me giggle, Amber.

The inspirational quote made me laugh! And also, the striped top with degrading stripes is really cute, just the other day I saw its short-sleeved cousin at H&M, and I was tempted to buy it, if not for the fact that in Italy’s summer a short-sleeved sweater is as useful as a sleeveless padded vest in Norway’s winter!

This is such a problem! I hate when I look at pictures later only to realize there are wrinkles everywhere. My personal favorite photography problem though is when you wear an outfit you love only to look at the pictures later and realize that shirt/skirt/whatever makes you look like an elephant on camera. Have you ever photographed an outfit that looked great in the mirror but showed off all the wrong things on camera? I suppose you’re right that some clothes just don’t photograph well.
The inspirational quote made me laugh out loud for real though, hahaha hahaha.
Amber
I HATE it when that happens – and you never really know whether it’s the camera that lies or the mirror, so it basically ruins the item of clothing for you forever!
Bonita
So true! This happens far too often, and I wonder whether I was walking around all day looking like a hot mess {as per the camera} or reasonably cute {as per my mirror}… #fashionbloggerproblems

Note to self: find another red pencil skirt to buy… Not that it doesn’t look great on you, because it does, but I tend to get ‘clone stamp’ happy when things look too creased in my outfit photos and life is just too short… I have a skirt that does this too though and editing those photos for over an hour is largely what I’m thinking about here!
Amber
I did consider Photoshopping it, but laziness won out in the end!

You look absolutely foxy! I don’t ever iron this is a fact, I am not even ashamed so ya this happens ALL the time haha, gross xx
linda cassidy
that is why I always try and get the pictures first thing in the morning, before I sit, or work or eat or actually live life. LOL It is a cute outfit and I love the inspirational quote ( haha)
Amber
These were actually taken in the morning, but I had to sit in the car to get to the photo location, so I guess that’s what did it!

This cracks me up. I’m pinning that profound thought because: a) I love irony, and b) because it really is true, if you think about it. I mean. You’re living life and rolling with it, creases and all. Also, these clothes you speak of that never get creased, where can I find some?

The inspirational quote is pinterest worthy, don’t worry 🙂 The skirt looks amazing, the high waist looks so pretty on you. I love the shoes too, nothing looks better than a very high heel.

Love the bag. You look great as usual.
Moira
The quote! Love it!

As linen is one of my favourite materials I really do love clothes that crease. Once, in Thailand on holiday, we did a short tour in a mini bus with another 8 people. My white linen shirt (used cover up in the sun) was rolled up in my bag, taken out, put back and creased to bits. A Lebanese man couldn’t resist touching it, sayin “Irish linen, it’s the best in the world. It always looks great.”
Helen
Gorgeous outfit (regardless of the creasing!)
And yes I have a pair of lovely floral trousers that look like this all the tie – I still love them though 🙂
Nicky
I have no idea whether the skirt is creased or not cos frankly I can’t tell at this time of day on my phone but hell that post made me laugh! Those ‘inspirational’ share me posts are the bain of my life!!
P.s. LOVE the whole outfit, creased or not!!
