OUTFIT | Black, white, red
Early spring tends to be a time of year when I find myself wearing trousers a lot more than usual. It’s still way too cold for bare legs, but I can just about cope with bare ankles, and even if I couldn’t, I’m so sick of having to wearing tights all the time that I’d probably do it anyway. So trousers it is: ideally high-waisted capri pants, which I will almost always pair with either a fitted cardigan or a boat-neck sweater, because yes, I really am that predictable.
This particular sweater is from Boden (quelle surprise!), and I had to stalk it for a couple of weeks before it finally came back into stock in my size. At the time of writing, it’s sold out again in this black and white stripe version, but still available in some other colours, one of which is navy. Damn, I really wish I’d bought it in navy, too. It was definitely worth the stalking, because I really love it – as, indeed, I love most sweaters in this kind of style. They have that whole 60s vibe going on, and are the kind of thing that are casual, but still a little bit special at the same time. This one also has a fabulous V-back, which I really like: when I read the reviews of it on the Boden website I kept seeing people mention that they’d been wearing it back-to-front, so I gave it a go, and yup, you can totally wear it the other way round, if you want. I personally prefer it the right way round (the back is actually longer than the front, which I think looks a bit odd reversed), but it’s good to have the option, isn’t it?
Speaking of options, you can obviously wear black and white with just about anything, but I almost always wear it with red. Always. I don’t think I could stop myself if I tried…
