See, every year, as soon as the weather starts to warm up a little, I get this urge to chop off my tresses. When it’s long, it takes SO long to blow dry and style, and while I can put up with it during the autumn and winter, when it’s warm out, like it has been lately, it all just starts to feel like like more trouble than it’s worth, so this year I decided just to go for the chop, safe in the knowledge that my hair grows so fast that it’ll be halfway down my back again in no time.
It felt like a HUGE change to me at the time – like, the kind of change you start regretting almost as soon as the stylist makes that first cut. Just a few minutes after these photos were taken, though, I met up with no less than five members of my immediate family, and not one of them even noticed I’d had it cut, so, this just in, Amber’s hair in ‘Not As Important As She Thinks It Is’ Shocker – WHO KNEW?
Anyway, the other brand new thing in these photos are the gingham capri pants, which I got from Dorothy Perkins last week. I’ve actually been quite frustrated by the whole gingham trend this spring/summer: I mean, I LOVE gingham – as my wardrobe full of the stuff testifies – but lately it’s been hard to find gingham print clothing that doesn’t have some huge ruffle attached to it, and ruffles are just Not My Thing. They’re one of those things that look fantastic on other people, but make me look like an extra from Gone With the Wind, and, as cool as that would be, I generally prefer to just keep things as simple as possible, you know?
These are definitely “simple”, and they were also pretty cheap, at £22, so they’ll probably be one one and only gingham purchase this summer – or, then again, maybe not…
