Outfit | Chi Chi London Lux skirt
Just to get the awkwardness out of the way first: no, I did not walk around all day clutching a bouquet of flowers, just because they matched my skirt. Not going to say I didn’t consider it, obviously, but damn, those things are heavier than they look!
No, as you may know, it was Mother’s Day here in the UK this weekend, and these photos were taken en route to my parents’ house, where I grudgingly handed over the flowers to my mum. “You should take some photos with them!” she said, as she put them in a vase. “They match your skirt!” Er, yup, done that. Sorry for using your Mother’s Day bouquet as a photo prop, mum!
Unfortunately for me, I was a being a little bit optimistic about the weather when I selected this outfit that morning (Not NEARLY as optimistic as I was the next day, mind you, when I decided it would be a good idea to try the old ‘bare-feet-in-pumps’ look on a day which turned out to be colder than it was back in January. I never learn…). Thankfully I was only outdoors for long enough to take these quick pictures, but suffice it to say, it’s not quite spring yet, although I don’t expect that’ll stop me trying to pretend that it is, because OMGICANTWAIT.
This skirt is by Chi Chi London, which is a brand I’ve been admiring from afar for a while now – you might have seen me raving about some of their dresses over on ShoeperWoman recently. This is the first item of theirs I’ve had the pleasure of actually wearing, and I almost didn’t get to wear it, because I only made it as far as the kitchen before disaster struck. We were just about to leave the house when I spotted what I assumed was an empty glass sitting on the counter, right above the dishwasher. “For goodness sake,” I thought, tut-tutting to myself as I picked it up. “How hard is it for Terry to just put his used glass IN the dishwasher, rather than leaving it lying around the kitchen?” Then I opened the dishwasher, turned the glass upside down, ready to put it inside… and yeah, that was a FULL glass of water, folks. A full glass of water which I turned upside down and poured right onto the floor, from where it splashed right back up at me, splattering the bottom of my skirt. Whoops!
Luckily it WAS just water, and it dried by the time we took these shots: Terry, however, who witnessed the incident, is never going to let me forget my stupidity, and tells me this is what happens when I try to clean up after him: needless to say, he’ll be tidying away his own dishes in future!
