OUTFIT | Speaking of uniforms…
I wrote about my love of fashion “uniforms” last week, so I guess it’s only fitting that my very next outfit post should feature one of mine!
Full skirt? Check.
Fitted/cropped top? Check.
High heels? That would be a check…
I wear some variation on this outfit at least a couple of times a week, and sometimes I get embarrassed by the sheer repetition, but then again, I guess that’s the beauty of being a personal style blogger than a “fashion blogger” – you get to just wear whatever you want!
This skirt was on its inaugural outing when these photos were taken, but I can already tell its destined to become a favourite: I love the shiny, jacquard fabric, but it proved a bit tricky to photograph properly, which is why I’ve added the slightly windswept photo below, even although the lighting is totally different it, and I hate that. The cardigan, meanwhile, is from Boden, and is another item that’s fairly new, but which I know I’ll wear loads: I like to wear very fitted tops with my full skirts, and a lot of the cardigans I find are too long and baggy to really work. This one, however, is the perfect shape, and is a gorgeous cashmere knit, too.
Finally, I’m once again wearing my Rubin brooch, although you can’t quite see him against the cardigan: gotta love that little guy! Needless to say, I wasn’t outdoors in this outfit other than to take the photos and run too and from the car, so I didn’t get too cold despite the slightly unseasonable outfit. It’s just started snowing as I write this, though, so it looks like that early spring I was hoping for isn’t going to happen: damn!

Randomly found your blog and can’t express how I like it! It was so interesting to read your posts and also I’d like to say that you have beautiful photos! I’ll be happy to see you in my blog!)

Nothing wrong with a uniform if it works for you, for sure! And this is such a classic one… I completely agree about the lighting thing, by the way. I’ve definitely not used great photos because I can’t get it to match the exposure on the rest – drives me nuts! I’m going to be featuring a little dog brooch from Eternal Collection this week on my blog – it took me a while to realise that’s where yours was from too! Although thankfully they’re at least different, so I didn’t *completely* copy you. It was probably subconscious copying though – I just saw yours and wanted my own 😀
Amber
Ooh, I’ll look forward to seeing it! I added SO many of them to my wish list when I was picking out mine – I just don’t think you can have too many dog brooches 🙂

Yep, we got some snow this weekend which seems ridiculous.
Love the outfit – I still say there’s nothing wrong with wearing what you know works for you.

When my sister pairs her fitted long sleeves top with full skirt or wears a full dress, I say that’s so Amber. She’s a huge fan of you.
Amber
Awww, that’s such a huge compliment 🙂

I love the way a fitted top looks with a full skirt. Not many years back, I thought a full skirt was the worst looking piece of clothing on me. Now, they are one of my favorites.
PS – That is a beautiful sweater, you can just see the softness. 🙂
Amber
It really is so soft – I want one in every single colour now!

Misread the title as “Speaking of unicorns…” and was expecting a somewhat different post.
I totally do the same thing, though. Today I’m wearing the same thing I wear on most work days in the winter: sweater, pencil skirt, tights, and heels. I guess I just can’t be expected to get that creative when I’m still on my first cup of coffee.

Beautiiiful outfit – that skirt is stunning and those shoes are just amazing! x

That skirt is so pretty.
You see, in my head my ‘uniform’ is similar to yours, the only problem is I find myself wearing jeans everyday and my wardrobe contains barely any magical skirts. I’m trying to phase the jeans out slowly though and replace them with wonderful skirts. Props to you for wearing skirts in the winter – it’s so cold, how do you do it?!
Amber
With this particular one I was only outdoors for a couple of minutes, as I said, but if I’m wearing thick enough tights with them, I don’t really find skirts any colder than trousers, to be honest. I see lots of people wearing skirts and dresses all year, so I’ve never really thought anything of it!

I love the lightning of the last photo! Now I’d like to see more of those 🙂

Lighting problems are my life right now! Love the skirt, and the shoes! I’m determined to get myself some CL nude So Kates at some point in life, even if they are too narrow for my ridiculously broad feet! I’ll just have them in my wardrobe to look at them (and possibly stroke them) every so often 😉

That skirt gives me life!
I love your style. I can’t wait to find my own once I’ve shifted some weight 🙂
