I can’t remember the last time I bought shoes.

Actually, scratch that, I can: it was these Boden flats. And oh yeah: those Mel flats – the ones that farmers hate? Those were both flats, though: they totally don’t count. You HAVE to have flats, after all, don’t you? You know, for those long walks in the country, with the beasts, and the electric fences and stuff?

I’m talking here about heels, though: the kind of heels that make you look at your screen, gasp in awe, and say, “OMG, I MUST have them, and I don’t care what I have to do to get them. GIMME.” THOSE kind of shoes.

I haven’t bought those kind of shoes in a long time: maybe a year or more. I’m not sure if it’s shoes themselves that have gotten a bit more boring in that time, or if it’s… well, ME. I suspect the latter. Well, I can’t very well blame the entire fashion industry for the fact that I keep wanting to wear the same old shoes every damn day, can I? I’ve had a couple of snarky comments about how often I wear those nude Pigalles that are rarely off my feet, but honestly, I love those shoes. I’d wear them AAAAALLLL the time if I possibly could. If that’s wrong, I guess I don’t really care too much about being right.

But I’m not here to talk about nude Pigalles. I’m here to talk about Poppy, who has broken my shoe-buying drought.  (Yes, I know it wasn’t REALLY a drought, but just humour me here, OK?) I mean, what a babe, seriously. I discovered Poppy on Saturday morning, when I was doing some research for ShoeperWoman. No, really, I was ACTUALLY  doing “research”. I was just supposed to be looking for shoes to BLOG about, not shoes to actually BUY, but then I opened up the ASOS website for my usual twice daily browse, and there she was. A stronger woman than me may have been able to resist Poppy and her polka-dotted, puffy-bowed ways, but I am not a strong woman (well, not where shoes are concerned, anyway), so Poppy was in my shopping basket and on her way to me before you could say, “OMG, SHOES!”

I’ll stop talking about the shoes as if they’re people now. That might make this all sound a little more reasonable.

(They are totally “people”, though. You know it.)

Anyway, the shoes arrived yesterday, and I love ’em. Haven’t been able to actually wear ’em yet, obviously, on account of the fact that the weather thinks it’s still March (thanks, weather!), but I can admire them on the shelf, and I can walk around the house in them, and that’ll have to do for now.

Speaking of walking around the house in them, I always panic a bit when people ask me how shoes fit: everyone’s feet/comfort levels are so different that I worry I’ll be all, “Oh, yeah, they’re totes comfortable!” and then someone will go out and buy them, only to have their feet shredded or something. Then they’ll blame me, and possibly try to sue me, because I said the shoes would fit, and … I’m over-thinking this, aren’t I? OK, well, let the record show that I ordered my usual size, and they fit fine. Please don’t sue me if you buy them and hate them…

[P.S. They also come in gold.  I won’t buy them, though. No I won’t. WON’T.]

AMBER HOW DARE YOU. I was so content with my life, and then I clicked on this post, it loaded, and that LeeAnn Rimes song (“How do I breeeeeeaaaathe without youuuuu”) started playing in my head. Now I’m so sad knowing these and the gold ones aren’t in my closet. SIGH.

When I saw these on the ASOS site not only did I think of you, but I KNEW you’d buy them! Looking forward to seeing them in an outfit soon, they’re so gorgeous. If my feet could ever keep any pair of shoes on I’d totally be buying them too…

Oh they’re so beautiful. I’m going to hide my bank card very quickly, because despite the fact I would have absolutely no use for these beauties because I really struggle to walk in heels, I’m turning into Gollum and going “my preciousness”.

First off, those nude Pigalles are awesome in a versatile, speaks-three-languages-and-can-make-crême-brulée kind of way. I won’t hear a word said against them. These are a different kind of awesome, in the throw-together-a-party-in-a-minute-never-depressed-not-ever kind of way. (I can’t wait to see the gold ones.)

Oh my God. Why don’t I have these shoes?! They’re completely impractical as a mom but I’m sure I’d find somewhere to wear them. Or at least that’s what I’ll tell myself.

Ok, so, the gold ones are a total must!

  • Those shoes! Gorgeous doesn’t begin to describe them. Even with your walking in heels tips, I think they’re too high for me though. {sigh} Sometimes I think having a small shoe size, 3UK, makes for a steep incline when it comes to heels.

I never expected that you got bad comments about the frequency, the Pigalle are popping up here. Ok, I have to admit I am not a fan of the Pigalle, because of the decollette and the way the toes are looking squezzed, but I think its just your right to wear them often, especially when you love them. From the economical site of view, you even have to wear them more frequently than for example some 100 dollar shoes, to reduce the average of price per wearing. 😉
And yes, those Poppys are toooo adorable! They seems to be very versatile to wear.
I ordered those golden Boden flats too by the way, but they ve been so hard, I had to return them unfortunatelly.

Amber, why do you do this too me – especially when I’m so broke the bank manager is banging at my door! I could never say no to polka dots shoes, the best part is that they do it in a size 2! Oh Amber my dear what have you done to me! xx

Ahh, I did the “basket rollercoaster” with these, should I, should I not? They then went out of stock in a 2 and I was annoyed, as soon as one pair came back I snapped them up, waiting for them to be delivered now, just noticed the heel height conversion has a discrepancy, are they 11.5cm or 4 inches? (As 11.5 cm is 4.5 inches, not 4) seeing as you have a pair in the flesh ( not that they are a person!?) What is the actual measurement?
    Much love xx
