A Pop of Red

60s inspired autumn outfit featuring Boden coat and Phillip Lim Pashli bag

I feel like I’ve waited months to wear this coat… er, probably because I HAVE waited months to wear it, now I come to think of it. I bought it back in May, thinking that, as it’s fairly lightweight, I’d get plenty of use out of it during our typically chilly British summer. Summer surprised us this year, though, and while I’m not complaining about that AT ALL, the warmer-than-average weather DID mess with my coat-wearing intentions somewhat.

Still, this week I’ve been making up for lost time. Like the leather jacket I featured a couple of weeks ago, the window of opportunity for wearing items like this is a very small one, but this week has been perfect (temperature-wise, at least), so I’ve been making the most of it before I have to resign the coat to the back of the closet again until spring.

The real star of the show here, however, is my red Pashli bag which – full disclosure – I own purely thanks to the generosity of my sponsors at Shopbop, because I’d never have been able to justify it on my own. I love it so much I’ve had to resist taking it to bed with me, though, and the bright red is a colour I know I’ll get tons of use out of (particularly given that I appear to be physically incapable of wearing black and white without adding a pop of red…), so you should probably expect to see a whole lot more of it. In fact, if I was in the habit of posting daily outfit shots, you’d have seen this exact combination of coat + bag several times in the past week alone, because I just can’t seem to stop myself. And that, my friends, is why I don’t post daily outfit photos. Well, that and the fact that I’m sometimes still in my workout gear at lunchtime… and I haven’t actually worked out yet.

  • I love this, it’s absolutely timeless and that coat is gorgeous! And very Audrey Hepburn, especially with your hair in a bun. And I feel you on the workout clothes thing, except I workout at night, so if I’m in my workout clothes at lunchtime there’s a good chance that they’re from yesterday, which is worse.

Mint AND red version of my favourite bag ever? Huge collection of awesone shoes and pouffy skirts? Consider me officially jealous. Just kidding, can’t wait for other outfits with the Pashli (or coat/bag combos).
Disclaimer: I’ve been reading your blog since you started Shoeperwoman but I’ve hardly ever commented and only now I’ve realized how important it is for you to read this (or at least I think so). Usually I didn’t do it because I felt that “Great outfit” ten times in a row is not worth commenting but I know it matters now. I love basically every type of post you do because I think your style of writing (and fashion style of course) is very engaging, useful and funny so the subject of the post isn’t that important for me. Also I don’t want to be one of those readers who consider bloggers their personal coffee read generator slaves. I would never complain if you missed posts. I’d be sad of course but I’m not paying for anything myself so why should I count how many hours you spend writing about shoes? If you happen to make money because I read your posts, more power to you.
In conclusion, keep on doing a great job! Sorry for this novel of a comment (making up for lost time?) but if anyone knows how it feels to have too many words, I’d say it’s you.Thank you!

I have wanted that bag since you first put it on instagram with those gorgeous red shoes, (only last week but you’d think it was months the way I wrote that.) alas it is out of my league, for now, I may sell an organ, I don’t need both kidneys.

  • Oh, that coat is so stunning and looks like it was made for you! I am super envious! Definitely agree that red bags are great for brightening up outfits – I always find myself reaching for red accessories to make things a bit more interesting. Very chic outfit (and hair!), I love it.

  • Oh I love this coat! It is funny how most of girls are the same, when we buy some clothes we fall in love and can’t wait to wear it. I m the same completely understand you.
B&W with touch of red is my favorite combination.

Here is still not so so cold, but I really want summer back!

    Kisses from Belgium.
