Outfit: A blue sky and a stripe coat
Sorry for the back-to-back outfit posts this week, folks.
I haven’t gone all “niche blog” on you, I promise – I’ve just been out and about more than usual this week, and while that’s given me the opportunity to squeeze in a couple of quick outfit shots, it hasn’t left me with as much time for longer posts, unfortunately. So outfits it is – for now, anyway!
This particular outfit is one I wore a couple of days ago, when this weird big ball of fire appeared in the sky, and we were like, WHOA, WHAT IS THAT? AND WHY IS THE SKY THAT COLOUR? It was literally the first time we’d seen blue skies in about three long weeks, so, in keeping with my whole “make the most of the sun when it’s there” resolution, we decided to wrap up and head into Glasgow for a bit of a wander. We stopped to take these photos on the way, and it was a good job we did, because the city was the busiest I’ve seen it in a while, and I don’t think the crowds of people doing the slow, shoulder-to-shoulder shuffle of the Sunday shopper, would’ve appreciated me stopping to pose in the middle of the street, somehow!
Because I basically like to ignore Christmas for as long as possible (or at least until December), I always forget that other people DON’T generally leave everything to the last minute, so we didn’t stay too long: I’m not good with crowds at the best of times, but after some of the events of the last year or so, including the attacks in Paris this month, I’ve been finding myself getting quite anxious when I’m in very crowded areas. It’s something I’m doing my best to fight, because, well, you can’t live your life in fear, but I have to admit, I was relieved to finally escape the crowds after a couple of hours, although I definitely appreciated the blue sky and sunshine – especially given that we woke up to pouring rain again the next morning.
As for the outfit, this coat is from Boden, and it’s fairly lightweight, so I layered up with a thick sweater and thin t-shirt underneath. It was definitely warm enough for the weather we were having, but I’m never very comfortable wearing lots of layers, so I think it’s probably time to retire this one until spring: I’m already counting the days!
