Sunshine and Showers
The curse hit again.
It had been gloriously sunny all morning. Windy, true, but then again, it’s ALWAYS windy, and at least it was sunny and dry, and not too cold: almost perfect outfit-photo weather. (I say “almost”: I would never take photos in the wind if I could possibly help it, but that would basically mean I’d never take photos AT ALL, so what can you do?)
So I picked out my outfit, I got dressed… and the second I stepped out of the door, it started to POUR. While it was still blindingly sunny. Only in Scotland do you frequently need sunglasses AND an umbrella, at exactly the same time…
We managed to get these photos anyway, by basically racing the rain to a point in the road where it was still dry. We beat it by just a few minutes, and it caught up with us as we were hotfooting (or wet-footing, rather) it back to the car, but beat it we did, AND we got a rainbow in the background, too: TAKE THAT, rain! Now if only we could find a way to out-run the wind…
This skirt was another one of those purchases which had totally sold out, but I sat and hit the refresh button until one came back in stock in my size, and I grabbed it. Just imagine what I could achieve I applied the same level of persistence to the rest of my life, people! (I can’t, though: I’m WAY too busy hitting ‘refresh’ on the Topshop website to have time for anything else. Sorry!)

I love this skirt and everything else polka dotted you show, which thankfully is lots of things, because I’m obsessed. And beating the rain and getting a rainbow in the deal. You are a lucky duck, thought I hope calling you that doesn’t bring back the curse of the ducks from your parents.

They actually left three more ducks in the bathroom last week! It was very obvious it was them (the ducks appeared right after they’d visited), but it did make me laugh – I’m building up quite a collection 🙂

I always really admire your head-to-toe same colour outfits whether it’s grey, beige or green. It looks so put together. I keep meaning to try it. One day I will!

I love this skirt! And the belt too. And your shoes…wow! Ok Your putfit is spectacular. I wish this would fit as well on me but I am too curvy (yes tipical italian in the body: small, big breast, thin waist, large hips. And quite “swedish” for my blonde hair and green eyes and freckles-which I love)
Jenny
I think your fun belt makes this look sing… that and the gray sweater. I’ve never met a gray sweater I didn’t love.
Amber
Oh, me neither: I actually ordered another one this week – whoops!

Say ‘curse’ if you want, but it’s GOT to be exceedingly rare to get such a perfect and clear rainbow in a photoshoot like that unplanned! I’d call it awesome luck, myself.
Then again… I didn’t get rained on.
So I guess there’s that.

Hi Amber, I love this skirt. I’m a long time reader, I think this is my first time commenting but that skirt is so retro.

We got rain and sunshine this morning in Dallas.

Like another commenter above, I keep meaning to try the same-colour-head-to-toe look too, but I keep forgetting. I also keep forgetting to wear that black and white Tesco pencil skirt that I saw you modelling at the start of the year, which I then bought, in an accidentally too small size, had to alter it, and now it’s just been sat in the wardrobe forlornly.
LOVE the rainbow in the background, perfect accessory for that beautiful skirt! P x

Hi there,
I just was wondering if you could tell us where you got your cute belt. P.S. Greetings from Canada! Love your wit and writing!
Amber
Hi! The belt was actually a gift, and doesn’t have a brand name on it: sorry I can’t be of more help!
Erika
The rainbow in the background is the most perfect backdrop! Love the photos and that skirt.

Wah, that skirt is a beaut as well – why do all of the lovely things sell out before I find out about them?
Selina
Love that skirt, it’s just fabulous
