OUTFIT | The Holiday Skirt

full skirt and stripe top

H&m stripe top

stripe top and cream skirt

After yesterday’s mini novel of a blog post, I’m going to keep this one short: well, I’ll try, anyway. Not promising anything, though…

So, this is what I wore during that whole walking/shopping/freaking out scenario from Day 2 of our trip. Needless to say, these were taken BEFORE that all happened, so I’m only about 50% jetlagged in these photos: thank God for dark glasses, though, is all I’m saying.

This outfit is almost exactly what I wore on our first day in Miami a couple of years ago: the top and shoes are different, but the basic idea is the same, so I guess I have a specific ‘holiday look’, and it’s a full, cream skirt and a stripe top. This skirt, though, is probably one of the most frequently worn items in my closet: it’s just so easy to wear, and goes with almost anything, so it’s one of those things that requires no-thought at all. Which is exactly what you need when you’ve had four hours sleep in two days.

These photos were taken in a cute little covered street off Lake Avenue in Pasadena: another good place to shop and wander – and one of the great things about this part of the world is that no one bats an eye at the sight of a fashion blogger posing for photos…

Lovely location – I also think no one beats a fashion blogger for finding photo-worthy places 😉

I really like this ensemble, it’s simple but quite fetching at the same time! Also, the location is lovely, so old-fashioned, it looks like it came out of an old postcard!

Beautiful location, great find! Your holiday posts have been some of my favourites over the years.

Do you roll your clothes Amber when you are packing? I’m sure you are probably really good about ironing them anyway as you are a pro at this photo malarky but is rolling good the best way for skirts of this kind? I normally just stuff everything in in a hurry after making sure I’ve got everything and the kitchen sink for the kids!!

Yeah, I roll as much as possible: it’s quite difficult with skirts like this, though, because there’s so much fabric you end up with this really long “roll”, but it does help. They still need a quick iron at the other end (although this one is a really crease resistant fabric, so I barely had to touch it!), but they’re much better than if I fold them!

Love the skirt, and the location is fab. Enjoy your holiday Amber.

Really like this skirt. It would be a handy colour to have in my wardrobe, although not sure whether it would stay clean around the kids! Great location!

You look great! I do love a good full circle skirt, though when I went abroad recently my suitcase was 99% of them, they take up so much room!

I knew the shopping arcade in the background looked familiar! It should, because Pasadena is my home town. I live in England now, so it’s awesome to see the sunny weather and pretty architecture represented on your blog (which I love, BTW!). If you’re still in LA, check out Revamp vintage. Annamarie, the designer, does amazing period accurate clothes, from the teens to the 50s. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
