Things Fashion Bloggers Do When It Snows
Does anyone else sometimes match their outfits to their surroundings?
If you answered “yes” to that, I’m going to take a wild guess that you’re probably a fashion blogger: because I totally wore this skirt because I thought the colour would pop nicely against the snow, and I can’t recall even THINKING about stuff like that before I started blogging about my outfits. Or, indeed, using the word “pop” in relation to colour, now I come to think of it.
Some other things fashion bloggers do when it snows:
01. Get really excited because SNOW PICTURES.
02. Get really annoyed because… SNOW pictures. Which means snow OUTFITS. Which means, no, you CAN’T wear that awesome outfit you were planning, because it only works with bare legs and heels, not boots and tights.
03. Briefly wonder if you could get away with bare legs and heels. Sadly conclude not.
04. Spend the entire morning watching the weather report/sky, just waiting for the snow to stop for long enough to take the aforementioned SNOW PICTURES.
05. Realise that’s not going to happen.
06. Drag photographer out anyway, with instructions to try to get at least ONE photo where your eyes are open. Just one.
07. Resign yourself to the fact that at least you’ll get a lot of funny out-takes out of this one.
08. Have a coat/car/other warm thing ready and waiting just out of the shot, so you can get back into it as soon as you’ve got that one “eyes open” shot.
09. Rinse and repeat until the snow finally melts, despite the knowledge that no one will care what you’re wearing: they’ll just think you’re crazy for being out in the snow.
And that was my weekend, basically. How was yours?

Red is the colour in the spectrum that the eye perceives to be coming forward on any image and really pops, (think that WW11 film with Liam Neeson at the train station in monotone apart from the little girl’s red coat). So with snow you are right, red really pops.

Schindler’s List is the film – really amazing cinematography in that scene!

Pretty!
My last couple photo shoots were just… meh. I kept looking at the photos and being like, “SAGAN MAKE YOUR FACE BETTER.” π I still need to go through all my past photo shoots and compare the best shots with the worst ones to figure out which angles and expressions are best for me.
Also: several weeks ago when it was snowing I dragged Mr Science out to take photos of me while the snow was falling because it was just so lovely out! A vintage muff looks as good as a red skirt against the snow π Snow pictures are fun.

Do you know it’s still never snowed enough to get pics down here since I started taking my photos outside, which is coming up to 2 years now? And if my trying to get a snow set (and failing) is what’s keeping it away, I’m actually ok with that. I like the idea of it, but I expect the reality is a bone-crushing cold 15 minutes and I have enough of those already without it being any worse…

It’s just my luck that on days after it has snowed, the wind chill picks up and it’s much to close to -40*C to take pictures outside π Canadian blogger problems π
your pictures look lovely!

This outfit is just awesome (and great for snow pictures!). I’ve been blogging for three years now and have never taken pictures in the snow!? Definitely missing out! <3

This was so funny! Because I did drag my boyfriend out in the snow, and every single one of the photos features my eyes firmly shut. Of course he insisted that it was because I don’t time my blinks properly, but we both know that’s not the case. π Anyway, you look fab! I love the red skirt and the stripes, very lovely against the white snow.

I want proper snow. All we’ve had this year is slush and lots of rain. Nobody wants slush photos.

I love this post! It made me smile. I really want snow to do an outfit photo. If we do then I think I’ll secretly be thinking of this post, knowing I’m not the only crazy person with bare legs, moaning at the photographer to get the perfect shot, then jumping back in a hidden warm car and thick winter coat/blanket ect!
You look amazing in these photo. βΊ
