Boden Vintage Halterneck dress in blue polka dot

Boden Vintage Halterneck dress in blue polka dotI took these photos last week, as part of the Boden by Me campaign, in which Boden are asking their fans to upload photos of themselves wearing their favourite pieces from the brand to their social media accounts, using the hashtag #BodenByMe. The idea is that the photos will then be pulled into a gallery on the Boden website, which you can scroll through to see how everyone wore your favourite Boden pieces. Now, looking at outfit photos is one of my favourite pastimes – in fact, it’s one of the main reasons I got into fashion blogging in the first place: I just find it so fascinating to see how other women have worn certain items, and when the clothes in question are ones I own myself (or have a chance of buying, well, so much the better). So I’ll definitely be taking a look at the gallery, in other words.

In order to launch the campaign, Boden very kindly sent me a couple of items from their spring/summer collection to try, and I had no hesitation at all in choosing the vintage halterneck dress, in this bright blue polka print. (I DID actually hesitate when choosing the print, though: this also comes in a quirky postcard print, and I was really torn between the two. For quite a while, actually.) This is basically the perfect, 50s-inspired sundress, as far as I’m concerned: it’s the kind of thing I wouldn’t be surprised to find from a vintage-inspired/retro brand, rather on the high street, and it has that whole “50s pin-up” thing going on, which I love.

Because it’s still April (or, at least, it was when these photos were taken), and just a little too chilly for bare shoulders, I’m wearing my dress with the appropriately-named Fifties Cardigan, and I’ve also added a petticoat underneath, just to give it a bit of extra volume. I do love a bit of extra volume.

You can browse the outfit gallery at the Boden website, or submit a photo to it using the hashtag #BodenByMe on Twitter or Instagram. See you there!

I knew you would get this! I got the postcard print one, it’s currently sat in my holiday suitcase awaiting its first wear in a few weeks!

I deliberated for ages between this and the postcard one: I’m kinda thinking I might need both now 😉

Very classic and lovely! I’m laughing to myself imagining how long this dress would be on me… but then, that’s pretty much the same for every 50s style dress, so what’s new 😉

Not sure how tall you are (I’m just over 5″3, so not very!) but they do come in petite, too! If I get the postcard print one, I’d possibly go for the petite length – I will report back if so!

Why is everything you wear so lovely?! Beautiful outfit once again – I think I’m going to have to invest in that dress.
