New Year, Not-So-New Me
Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you’ve all had a good start to 2014. Terry and I had been so busy planning for our house-warming party on the 28th (more on that later) that we hadn’t bothered to make any plans for New Year’s Eve, but our friends Ewen and Gillian told us about a bar near them which was having a New Year-themed cocktail event, and, well, it WAS New Year’s Eve, after all, so the four of us made a last-minute decision to go to that.
We were really glad we did, too: the theme was “drinks from around the world”, (or, to put it another way, “Hey, let’s think of an excuse to drink a lot of cocktails, because New Year!”) and we were given a different drink every hour, to correspond with whichever part of the world had just welcomed in 2014 at that point. We had ouzo for Greece, whisky for Scotland… aaaand that’s basically as much as I can remember of the drinks, which I guess is the sign of a good night.
I jest, of course: although it sounds a little bit like a recipe for disaster, we actually remained relatively sober, and once we’d rung in the New Year, we headed off to “first foot” some friends who live nearby, finally rolling home in the early hours of the morning. As New Years go, it was a pretty good one, especially considering that the gigantic burn on the side of my face had healed enough by that point to allow me to go out in public WITHOUT the bag over my face. I wasn’t quite so lucky for our house-warming party, but that, my friends, is a whole other story…

I love Ouzo, my greek housemate always brings some back when she visits home.. I slowly end up drinking it all by having ‘just a bit’ every now and again. Oops.
Glad you had a good new years, your dress is lovely (what a surprise 😉 )
