Cherry Blossom Season
How do you choose your outfits? For me, it normally starts with one specific item, which I build the rest of the look around. In most cases, the item in question will be a pair of shoes or a polka dot skirt (You all know how I am about polka dot skirts, right?), but in this case, it was a bracelet: this bracelet, in fact, which arrived from Thomas Sabo last week, along with the gorgeous cocktail ring I’m wearing with it in the photos.
Now, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you might have noticed I’ve been going through a bit of a pink phase lately, which is what drew me to this particular bracelet. Pink is one of those colours redheads are always being told they shouldn’t wear, and I used to avoid it like the plague, for that very reason. Once I hit that, “I will wear whatever I like, thanks,” phase in my late 20s, though, I decided to just ignore all of those silly fashion “rules” – and I’m glad I did, because, while there are definitely some colours I don’t wear, because I don’t like the way they look on me, it turns out that pale pink isn’t one of them: which brings me back to the bracelet…
This is one of the Thomas Sabo Charm Club pieces, which I chose to have accessorised with two silver charms: a letter ‘A’ for my name, and a cute little heart, because… well, because it’s a cute little heart, basically. With it, I’m wearing a sterling silver cocktail ring with a milky quartz stone. I don’t often wear rings (other than my wedding and engagement bands), because I’m almost always typing, but when I do, I like to take a, “The bigger, the better,” approach to them, and this ring appealed to me because it’s large enough to make a bit of a statement – as all good cocktail rings should – but still delicate enough not to totally overwhelm my hand.
The rest of the outfit was, as I said, all chosen around these two pieces – although, let’s be honest, I never really need an excuse to roll out this polka dot skirt, do I? I bought it from Topshop, about three years ago now, but it still gets plenty of wear, because it’s one of the few pieces in my closet which works for every season. I’ve shown you it before in both autumn and winter, so here’s the spring version – and yes, I did choose the cherry blossom backdrop to go with the outfit, not gonna lie.
Speaking of cherry blossom, I know I’m not the only fashion blogger to have taken photos next to these trees in front of Glasgow Green lately, so I feel like a bit of a blogging cliché here – not that it’s ever bothered me before, obviously! We got the cherry blossom just as it was starting to turn, unfortunately, but it was still so pretty in the spring sunshine, and a perfect match for my outfit, if I do say so myself. If only it would bloom all year round: I mean, will no one think of the poor fashion bloggers, here?!

I was interested to see that your sweater is from Everythingfivepounds. What’s the fit/quality like? Did you order anything else from there and would you order again? x
Amber
I was really pleased with it – fit and quality is comparable to any high street brand, really. The only other thing I’ve ordered from there is a pair of jeans, which are actually by ONLY – basically all of their stuff is overstock from high street brands, so from what I’ve heard, it can be a bit hit and miss, but I’ve been happy with it so far! (They were also literally the only site that had a pale pink sweater without ruffles or cut-outs right now, which was why I went for it!)

This outfit screams the 1950s and I’m obsessed with it, it seems absolutely perfect for Spring.

I love cherry blossom! When I lived in Japan I was lucky enough to see two springs. The Japanese people call it sakura and they really let their hair down at this time of year and have hanami parties where they all gather under the trees, drink sake and party. It seems to have come out earlier this year in Scotland. A couple of years ago on exactly this day we popped up to Glasgow Green and it was out in force, but I could see the trees shedding their pink petals already.
Love the pink theme of this post!

I love the cherry blossom season, especially the one outside our house, on the grass verge, and when the blossom falls on our cars they look like wedding cars.
I love the outfit and the jewellery – the epitome of spring and cherry blossom. Pink also represent love, so I love pink quartz too

I love Thomas Sabo jewelery… it looks very pretty on you! I haven’t purchased any yet… I am obsessed with anything that is pink gold and they have a really pretty bracelet I may have to “bite the bullet” on… Beautiful outfit! Spring agrees with you, Amber!

Love it! I’m definitely feeling the pale pink right now–I recently bought a pair of monochrome dusty rose sneakers from H&M and have been wearing them with everything!

I definitely create entire outfits for accessories I want to wear – I just posted one based on a brooch, in fact! Also pink, so maybe there’s something in that?! I have been looking for a row of cherry blossom trees to fulfil my own blogger cliche dreams but only managed to find white blossom. Pfft. Who wants white when you can have pink? (I took it, anyway, blogging beggars can’t be choosers)

Such a beautiful outfit! I’m so in love with that skirt, I think it would be a perfect work outfit for me as I’ve been so bored of wearing the same things over and over again! Something like this would cheer a wardrobe up a bit I think 🙂 Thank you for sharing – I’m definitely going to go do some internet shopping now to see if I can find something similar..!

Pale pink really suits you Amber..love the look.

Amber,
I love the whole entire outfit. As I cannot manage high heels at work, or most any other time really, I would have had to go with pale pink ballet flats. Your jewelry is beautiful. I especially love the ring.

I love your sunglasses!

Come on, confess that you based this outfit around your new pink book cover 😉 Lovely outfit x
Amber
Or did I choose the book cover to go with the outfit? 😉

Those shoes! They look much pinker in your pictures than on the Office website. I’m also going through a pink phase, but more hot pink. I have purchased a mini dress, shoes and a skirt in the hue since the beginning of March. Obsessed, much?
