Unique Vintage Style Society | Stop Staring ‘Abbey’ dress
My Stop Staring green dress
For my second pick as part of the Unique Vintage Style Society, I once again played true-to-type, with the beautiful ‘Abbey’ dress by Stop Staring.
Now, if you’re a regular reader, I’m sure I won’t have to explain why I picked this dress: you all know by now that green, 50s-inspired dresses are basically kryptonite to me, and I can’t see one without immediately wanting to wear it. Stop Staring is one of my favourite retro dress brands: I have quite a few of their pieces now, but can always find room for one more, and I’d had my eye on this one for a while, so it was a very obvious pick.
Slightly less typically, I decided to pair the dress with flats rather than heels for this look: it’s very rare for me to wear flat shoes when I don’t actually NEED to wear them for practical reasons, but I thought this dress had a very “Audrey-Hepburn-esque” feel to it, and somehow flats seemed like the way to go. I also added a petticoat (from eBay) to give the skirt a bit of extra volume – it doesn’t really need it, but it’s always a good way to make a dress like this feel a bit more special!
I also have to quickly mention the sunglasses: these are also from Unique Vintage, and you might have noticed I’ve been wearing them in almost all of my outfit posts lately: they’re just the perfect cat-eye shape, and really flattering too, which is why I’ve barely taken them off since they arrived. Well, other than at night, obviously: even I don’t wear sunglasses in the dark. Not all the time, anyway.
Don’t forget, you can join the Unique Vintage campaign by using the hashtag #iamunique on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, and you can also upload your photos directly to the Unique Vintage website here. Even if you’re not uploading a photo yourself, the gallery is well worth a look if you’re into vintage-inspired style – there are some really inspirational outfits on there!

Lovely pick – and I like seeing how you’ve styled it with flats. Pointed, smart flats like this work really well! I’ve been enviously eyeing those sunglasses – like you say, they’re the perfect shape!
