AD | Changing Up My Wedding and Engagement Rings
These vintage inspired wedding bands were provided in exchange for this post: thanks for supporting!
For a long time now, I haven’t been able to wear either my wedding or engagement rings: the former because it’s badly in need of re-plating, and the latter because so many of the little ‘prongs’ holding the stone in place have broken off now that I just know the next time I wear it, it’s all going to end in (very expensive) tears, plus a long, and probably fruitless search for the missing diamond.
I could, of course, just take both rings into the nearest jewelers and have them fixed/re-plated, but I say that in the same way that I occasionally say, things like, “You know, I could just join the gym/ learn how to make my own clothes / start eating vegetables instead of chocolate…” I mean, yes, technically I could just do all of those things, but that doesn’t mean I’m actually going to do them, and, in the case of the wedding/engagement ring scenario, it had fallen so far down the priority list that I’d basically just assumed there would ALWAYS be something more important to spend my money on. So when the people at Flawless Moissanite got in touch to ask if I’d like to try one of their vintage inspired wedding bands, it felt a bit like they’d snuck into my brain –– only in a significantly less creepy way than I just made that sound.
Moissanite, as you may know, is a naturally occurring mineral, which is now grown in labs, as a more ethical, eco-friendly alternative to diamonds. It’s been used in wedding and engagement rings for a long time now, and I personally can’t tell the difference between moissanite and diamond, which is why I love it so much. Flawless Moissanite also use recycled gold in all of their rings, and all pieces come with a lifetime warranty and certificate of authenticity (as well as arriving in some really gorgeous, high quality packaging), for further peace of mind.
My new vintage inspired wedding bands…
My existing wedding and engagements are very simple in style, so this time around I decided to go for something completely different, just for a change (and OK, also because I’ve always secretly wished I’d gotten something a bit more blingy at the time. I’ve always said that if I were ever replacing my engagement ring in particular I’d probably go for a ‘the sparklier, the better’ kind of approach, and, well, I think I managed to achieve that objective with this vintage style bridal set:
This includes has a gorgeous, flower-like engagement ring set with a one-carat stone in the center, and ten smaller stones around it. There’s also a matching white gold wedding band, which has moissanite all the way around, and is pretty much the sparkliest thing I’ve ever seen: so much so that it was impossible to do justice to it in a photo, because I just couldn’t capture the way they catch the light:
In real life, however, they’re so stunning it’s hard not to want to just sit and stare at them every time I wear them: in fact, my old rings look really quite shabby next to them now, so it’s safe to say I’m a moissanite convert. If you want to find out if they can win you over, too, you can check out the brand’s website here – and if you do decide to treat yourself to something, don’t forget to come back and tell me what you thought!
