black and blush maternity outfit

photobombed by a catI wasn’t going to post these photos.

They were taken just as the sun was going down (So although they look a bit dark, the sun was right in my eyes), the backdrop is boring, the outfit is basic, my hair hadn’t been washed in two days and was being blown around by the wind, I got photobombed by a cat (Yes, I washed my hands afterwards, people who are about to issue dire warnings about pregnant women and cats) … the usual, really.

Still, basic it may be, but I actually really liked this outfit when I wore it, and sometimes it’s nice to feature the everyday outfits, as well as the more “special” ones, isn’t it? I wore this one a couple of weeks ago for a late-night trip to IKEA – because that’s how exciting my life is at the moment. Unfortunately for me, the shoe woes of that week weren’t over, and flats seem to be unlucky for me, because these ones rubbed my heel raw somewhere between the kitchenware department and lighting: ouch! (Also, the curtains we went there to buy ended up being the wrong length, which we didn’t realise until we got them home. I’d say it was a wasted trip, but we did pick up a light for the nursery, a random glass to replace one I managed to break, and a tonne of Swedish chocolate, so there was that, at least…) It took forever to heal, too, and we’d run out of Bandaid, so, since then I’ve been rocking an attractive bright blue plaster any time I wear flats: I never thought I’d ever find myself looking forward to ‘boot weather’, but guys, I was totally looking forward to boot weather: wonders will never cease!

Also, quick shout-out to H&M for making this scarf: it’s 100% cashemere, and the snuggliest thing in the world, basically. I also have my eye on the camel version, in fact, but am bravely trying to resist. Let’s just see how that goes, shall we?

A set of photos with such a cute photobombing cat are never wasted, imho, lol. No seriously, that cat is so cute (and well fed), love the white triangle on its front!

You can make an “ordinary” outfit seem special! The scarf, the bag and the shoes pull it all together to make it that way. Also, here in Canada (at least where I live), we don’t have the same sort of backdrops that you do. Ours are boring, yours aren’t! ha!

So glad you posted it, I love the outfit!! And you should definitely buy the camel version (I would actually buy the plum one, I love that colour :b), that scarf looks awesome and since you’re kinda bored with the “basicness” of maternity outfits that should help as it clearly does with this outfit.
Also I’m forever in love with that bag…

Do you have anything like Compeed Blister Plasters over there? There are the best thing ever for popping on blisters; they stay on better, and offer better cushioning, than band-aids. I always carry a pack of them in my handbag. Also, AliExpress sell packs of what are variously referred to as “Sticky Sponge Inserts Shoes Cushion Pads”, or “Fabric Sticky Back Heel Grips Shoe Sponge”; or some other variation on those keywords. They’re adhesive spongy things that stick to the inside of your shoe at the heel and thanks to them I’ve saved several pairs of shoes that otherwise would have been given away because they rubbed at the heel. (Also, I may be telling you something you already know, in which case, sorry!)

The outfit is adorable, and the photobombing cat made my evening!
