I completely forgot it was Easter this weekend.

I mean, I say I “forgot” – I didn’t even know in the first place, because when you’re self-employed, and work from home, national holidays have a tendency to pass you by, really. I remember Christmas, but only because it’s on the same day every year: as for the rest of them… well, let’s just say that sometimes I have trouble remembering what day of the week it is, let alone what season we’re in, or whether there’s a public holiday coming up or not. Actually, now I come to think of it, I have a sneaking suspicion that Daylight Savinsg Time might be coming up this weekend, but it’s equally possible that I made that up, or that it’s already happened, and I’ve been working on a different timeline from everyone else in the country ever since. ‘Amber Time’, we could call it: it’s a bit like Bristol Time, only a whole lot less reliable…

Anyway! I have a whole bunch of shiny new content planned for you (Note: I don’t really, but at least now I have some extra time to come up with something…), but I’m going to take a wild guess that not many people will be bothering to check out my blog over the Easter weekend (I can’t blame you, either: I’d choose chocolate eggs over my holiday photos too, to be honest…), so this is basically just one of those totally self-indulgent posts (er, more so than usual, I mean. Look, I’m a lifestyle blogger: whaddya expect?) which is here more for my benefit than because I think anyone’s going to want to read it… although if you do, I’ll be your friend for life, pinky promise. I’d buy you a chocolate egg and everything, but you all know I’d eat it before I could hand it over, right? Right.

Now, before you go getting all excited and thinking the existence of this post means I’m getting all of my holiday photos out of the way in one fell swoop, I’m sorry, but no. I DO have a few outfit posts to share, plus some travel-related ones, and even a holiday nightmare – for yes, I have a new holiday nightmare to add to my list. How lucky was THAT?! (Oh, and while I’m on the subject, I absolutely LOVED reading your comments on that post, by the way: the laptop had died by that point – that’s NOT the holiday nightmare, but it was a bit annoying – and I can’t manage to type more than a couple of sentences on my phone without losing the will to live, so I couldn’t respond to them, but I read them all by the pool, and then read them aloud to Terry, so THANK YOU for taking the time to share your stories: they were very much appreciated!)

These, then, are basically the photos that don’t fit in anywhere else: they’re totally random, and you might have already seen a couple of them on Instagram, but that doesn’t matter, because you’re not actually here, are you? No, you’re off doing whatever it is people do on Good Friday – and yeah, I totally just had to Google that to make sure today WAS, in fact, Good Friday, and not just some kind of Average Friday. Can you tell I’m not religious?

If you ARE here, reading this post, and if you made it all the way to the end of what was supposed to be a short introduction to the photos, but somehow turned into a long ramble (I WONDER HOW THAT HAPPENED? I mean, SO unlike me, right?), then I hope you enjoyed my postcards from Tenerife, and that you have a very happy Easter weekend/regular weekend – delete as applicable.

Loved your pictures! Keep in mind not all of us are Christian / live in a Christian country, so there’s always someone reading your posts (did that sound creepier than I intended?)

That was totally NOT meant as criticism or anything, by the way. Hope that was clear 🙂

  • Oh, that last photo you’ve got there gave me chills and enveloped me in warmth all at once. I love it. And I love your rambles. I can’t stop reading and sharing your stuff. Your voice is incredibly fun and quite unique. May the rambles persist forever!

Those are terrific photos, Amber! I had to pin he one of the mosaic tile wall because I have kind of an obsession with abstract arrangements of squares that could be translated into needlework somehow. I would love to live in a house covered with ceramic granny squares.

P.S. I just looked again and is it really tile, or a quilt hung over the edge of the building with a cutout for the window? Either way, I love it.

I love the tile one too, and the reflection. In the lens, and let’s face all the blue skies

The shoe picture struck me as both amusing and potentially quite sad. I did enjoy the pictures as well as the ramble: your writing is always a fun read!
Do you pick up souvenirs when you travel abroad or do you stick to pictures?

  • I celebrate holidays as “Kid holidays” since I have a 9 year old, but once he stops being interested in holidays I probably will have no idea when they are either. I spent all week before last thinking that the 20th was Easter and I turned out to be wrong.
