Just last week, I declared it to be ‘biker jacket weather‘ – which I’d secretly been looking forward to, because, as much as I hate autumn, I do love biker jackets, so at least that’s something to look forward to, no?
This week I’m declaring biker jacket season to be over. Sorry, biker-jacket-lovers: it’s a pretty short season, unfortunately. SO short, in fact, that one day it’s way too warm for a leather jacket, but the next day you’ll freeze your ass off in one. Which is exactly what I did while we were taking these photos. Well, I mean, I didn’t freeze my ass OFF, exactly: I did get cold enough that we had to retreat to a handy cafe for a warming mug of coffee, though, so unless the weather takes a turn for the seriously unexpected, I think it’s probably time to think about dusting off the winter coats already. Dammit.
Speaking of things that are unexpected, this outfit definitely isn’t one of them: in fact, I think I’m physically incapable of wearing this jacket without also reaching for the matching handbag, and if I can find a way to work in the also-matching ankle boots, then so much the better. The good news, however, is that my realisation that the Scottish autumn only really lasts for approximately five minutes has convinced me that, no, I really do NOT need that tan leather jacket I’ve been eyeing up over at Mango. I still really want it, obviously, but even I can see how futile that particular purchase would be, so buh-bye leather jacket: it was nice knowing you in my dreams!
The bad news, on the other hand? We’ve now reached that time of year when I’m going to have to attempt to whip my coat off for just long enough to get some outfit photos in, without turning blue from the cold. Pray for the poor fashion bloggers, folks: they’re going to need it…
