I had big plans for Easter.
Well, I mean, I had big plans for what I was going to wear for Easter, I mean. For the day itself, I just go wherever I’m told, and eat as much chocolate as people can throw at me. Given that I always think of Easter as the real start of spring, though (Yes, I know it technically starts before it, but I don’t care…), and spring is my favourite season, I wanted to celebrate by getting all dressed up, in a suitably spring-like outfit, all florals and lace and … that’s about it, actually, but it would’ve looked nice, trust me.
Note the words “would have” in this sentence, though. Yup, after a few days of gorgeous spring weather, we woke up on Easter Sunday to grey skies and temperatures which felt at least 10 degrees colder than they had the day before. Now, I guess I could have just toughed it out, and worn my planned outfit anyway, like the brave little style soldier that I am, but I find that the older I get, the more I just want to be comfortable, even it means NOT wearing that pretty floral skirt I’d gotten all ready. Somewhere, my younger self is weeping in anguish at that statement right now. Sorry, younger Amber: it was just REALLY cold, and you’d have been totally miserable with bare legs and a short-sleeved top, trust me on this.
Instead, then, I decided to just go with that ol’ faithful: jeans and a sweater. Luckily, though, this sweater* had just arrived from Next, and although it’s totally basic from the front, it’s anything BUT basic from the back, so I still got to feel a least a little bit Easter-y, despite the chilly temperatures. Mostly because those bows kind of remind me of the ones you sometimes see on Easter Eggs, let’s be honest.
Because it was too dull outside for even me to want or need to wear sunglasses, I ended up with very few usable shots, as usual, because I had my eyes screwed shut in almost all of them. GOD. One day I will learn how to keep my freakin’ eyes open in photos: just… not this week, apparently.
Boden shoes (Old, but they’ve released a similar style this season too, too, which I also love)
