Party Dress Inspiration with Fashiola
[This post is sponsored by Fashiola.]
Remember Fashiola? The website that lets you not only search through tons of online clothing stores, all in the same place, but also to set up sale alerts, so that when that perfect party dress finally drops in price, you’ll know about it, and not have to spend the rest of your life fruitlessly searching for it on eBay?
I’ve been stalking this Chi Chi party dress on it for weeks now: ever since I wrote about it in this, slightly hysterical-sounding, Wish List post, in fact. Back then, I said it wouldn’t be very practical for day-to-day life, and that was true. Now, however – well, now it would STILL be pretty impractical, to be perfectly honest, but the Christmas party season is almost upon us, and that means that anything goes, as far as I’m concerned. Especially dresses with very full skirts, and the cutest little stand-up collar you ever did see.
So, as I said, I’ve been stalking this dress ever since I saw it, and even although it hasn’t gone on sale yet, it HAS started to sell out, which meant it was now or (probably) never. I have ideas of this being my Christmas party dress, you see, and that’s not the kind of thing you want to mess around with, so when Fashiola suggested a collaboration, I headed straight to the ASOS section, to see if they still had The Precious in my size.
Luckily for me they did have it in my size, and, equally luckily, it fit like a dream: I’ve had really good experiences with Chi Chi London, and find the fit true to size, which makes them an easy brand to order online. (Of course, it doesn’t hurt that their dresses are all absolutely gorgeous, too…) Although the fit is perfect, however, I did make a tiny alteration to the shoulders: they’re designed to stick out from the dress, as you’ll see if you check out the photos on the ASOS website. It’s a really interesting detail, which adds tons of drama to the silhouette, but I felt the extra fabric swamped me a bit, so I took the simple measure of tucking it under to take these photos, and I’ll probably put in a couple of stitches to secure it when I wear it. (I actually don’t think it’ll really need it, but better safe than walking around with one shoulder bigger than the other and not realising it…)
Now I just need a party to go to: any offers? Any at all?

Such a glamorous dress – beautiful! I still haven’t ordered anything from Chi Chi yet – came really close the other week, but the size guide actually really worries me. It suggests that I’m right in the middle of two sizes with the waist measurement being the troublesome one – and most of their dresses don’t appear to have stretch… From the sounds of it I’m right to worry about it!

I find Chi Chi very true to size, if that helps: all of the pieces I have from them are my regular size, and none have had to be tailored. The shoulder thing with this one was just a personal preference thing – I just thought they looked better tucked in! Oh, and they do petites, too ?

I wore a Chi Chi dress to my graduation and got tons of compliments on it. I was really unsure about wearing it since it had such a full skirt and I felt like I would stand out, but it looked lovely in photos. I had the Mono Floral Midi Dress With Bardot Neck.
