Stilettos in the Snow
So, just to be clear upfront, this is NOT a post about wearing stilettos in the snow. That would be stupid. And dangerous. And dangerously stupid. Don’t do that, folks. I do the stupid things so you don’t have to, remember?
Well, no, not really. I’m hoping it goes without saying (but I’m going to say it anyway…) that I didn’t actually put this outfit on with the intention of traipsing around in the snow in it. No, as you can see from the little path in front of me, I walked for approximately two metres on concrete, before standing for 30 seconds in the snow, then running back to the car. Well, running as fast as stilettos will allow on a slippery path, anyway.
Yes, I did it JUST FOR THE PHOTOS. Because that’s the kind of person I am, apparently. One who wears stilettos in the snow because she wants to get some photos for her stupid fashion blog.
(Oh yeah, I’m also wearing a turtleneck and a big skirt, WHAT A SURPRISE.)
If you were with me through The Great Skirt Scandal of ’14, you might recogise this as THE skirt. The ONE skirt. The pink skirt the dry cleaner destroyed, and which I vowed to spend the rest of my life searching eBay for, before a confusing – but also boring – turn of events meant I ended up with three of the things. This is the one I kept (I DID consider keeping them all, because you never know when a dry cleaning emergency will strike, but that would’ve been a bit much, even for me…), and I have to confess that this was the first time I’d dared to wear it since then. (And then I go and wear it in SNOW. Figures.) I feel a bit bad about this, because I’m always banging on about how you shouldn’t keep things for “best”, and you never know what’s around the corner, etc etc, but after what happened The Last Time, can you really blame me?
Anyway, I’m pleased to report that the skirt survived its outing – snow and all – intact. Phew! Dodged a bullet there, for sure…

I loooove this skirt, but knowing myself and my two preschoolers, I couldn’t wear a garment like that (or I could, but it would be the first and the last time ever…) And though I’m not a winter-lover, I do kinda envy you the snow – here in Manchester, despite numerous forcasts promissing it, the snow somehow manifested as a rain (what a surprise!) 🙁

Love your blog – you’re like the Scottish Marian Keyes! Have just read the dry cleaning incident blog – hysterical but tell me why you’ve bought another one, or three!!, if you can’t clean it? It is pure gorgeous but still?
I read a post recently which really impressed me with your honesty – the one about the exhaustion of social occasions – so so me. I have always struggled with needing a lot of down time after any kind of social interaction and thought I was a bit weird but now feel much better. Think it’s just that we love our cosy nights in with baths, tea and books so much!

I didn’t actually buy three with the intention of keeping all of them – it’s a long story, but one of the three was the one that was damaged, and the other was returned, so I only have one. The skirt will be able to be cleaned, it just can’t be dry cleaned. I don’t claim it was a rational decision in the slightest, but I loved the skirt, was upset to lose it, and got the replacement much cheaper, so I decided just to get it 🙂

Ah yes, I remember the previous skirt post! But look at it, it’s so beautiful… especially in the snow. Although I can literally feel the cold you were experiencing taking these photos… ouch! Worth it though, they’re so pretty.

Ah, it was literally just a few seconds – I hate snow, but I have to admit, it makes a pretty backdrop!

Such pretty photos with the snow. I did feel a little anxious for the skirt in the snow because I did recognize it, but it sounds like no harm was done! The black turtleneck looks so lovely on you against the white snow backdrop.

Wow, lovely photos in the snow. The skirt is lovely, I can easily understand why you’ve wanted a replacement 🙂

This is SO cute. The colours go really well with your skin tone and hair colour as well!

Not here either, thankfully – these were taken last week, and it didn’t stick around for long!

You look beautiful! Brave you getting out on the snow in those heels, worth it though. 😉 x

OMG SNOW!
That aside these photos did turn out amazing, and that skirt was perfect for traipsing about in the snow, even if it was just for show. However I can’t believe you wore those shoes in snow even for a second, you are far braver than I am. (I guess that’s why you’re the shooper woman, able to cross snow in small bound, able to make shoe purchases faster than a speeding bullet)
I have to say you look like a winter pixie ready to make trouble in the second photo, but that could just be because I’m currently rereading the Tithe series by Holly Black.

Looking at your posts, I am starting to discover a love for full midi skirts. I’ve always adored pencil/wiggle skirts and dresses but after reading the saga of your pink skirt, and looking at your Christmassy red skirt too, I have ordered a couple of full midi skirts for the first time in my life! Not sure my bank account is happy but it may well be a start of a new fashion era for me, thanks to your inspiration 🙂

Beautiful post! Love the skirt, I really want a similar version in red (a colour I am obsessed with right now). xo

They’re smooth, but as I said, I didn’t actually wear them in the snow for more than a few seconds – the car was right next to me 🙂
