I may not love winter, but man, do I LOVE winter coats: in fact, with the exception of my one true love, shoes (And, OK, there IS that designer handbag handbag habit, but I try not to think too hard about that…), they’re the item I spend most money on, and get the most pleasure out of buying.
Well, when you live in the UK, you have to make winter bearable somehow, don’t you?
This year, however, I am not buying a new winter coat. Er, other than the one I bought during the summer and squirrelled away until now, obviously. (Oh, shush, like you’ve never seen a coat and realised that if you don’t buy it rightthisverysecond, your whole life will be ruined. It happens, people: it happens…) Not only is my budget pretty much taken up with baby-related paraphernalia right now, I just had to cull a whole bunch of winter coats from the closet in the nursery (which is where I used to store all of my outerwear, until I suddenly realised that, oh crap, the baby’s probably going to need some storage space too, isn’t he?), so, this year, I’m having to go with a “look, but don’t touch” approach. Yes, it is very hard. Pray for me.
Anyway, last year I did a roundup of winter coats over on my other blog, and because I apparently hate myself and enjoy suffering, this year I’ve decided to do the same thing again, with coats that are available NOW. All of the winter coats below are available from the UK high street, and I’ve tried to keep the prices fairly reasonable, too, because I know only too well how annoying it is to see the coat of your dreams, and then click through, only to find that it’s going to cost you $5,000, plus at least one non-essential organ, to buy it.
So, here you go: a collection of winter coats in (almost) every colour of the rainbow – buy one, and think of me when you wear it, ‘kay?
Which one would you go for?
