2014 | A Year in Outfit Photos
As years go, 2014 wasn’t a bad one. I mean, I’ve had worse. Way, WAY worse, so I can’t really complain.
It wasn’t a particularly interesting year either, though, if I’m totally honest. This was always going to be The Year of the House for us: having bought our new home in August 2013, the year that followed was all about settling in, making plans… er, having the hall dug up and the powder room remodelled: that kind of thing. With most of our budget being sunk into the house, then, there wasn’t much money or time for anything else: we had a trip to London and Kent during the summer, and a few other adventures thrown in, but if I did a retrospective of the year, it would mostly be photos of me sitting at my desk, blogging which… well, it makes Amber a dull girl, doesn’t it?
Instead, then, I’ve chosen to recap the year by looking at what I wore. I’ve mentioned before that while taking photos of your outfits is a pretty strange thing to do, all things considered, it also comes in handy for people like me, who have a burning (and yet inexplicable) need to record all of the mundane little details of their lives. As I look back at these outfit photos, I don’t just remember what I was wearing, I remember what I did, how I felt, and all kinds of other little details that aren’t in the photos – or even mentioned in the text that accompanied them a lot of the time – but which are nevertheless hidden somewhere in those pixels.
So, this was my year: I can’t wait to see what 2015 will bring! (And, you know, what I’ll be wearing for it…)
