Another day, another bardot-style dress/top.
I wish I could tell you this would be the last you’d see of this style (in this series at least), but alas, I have ANOTHER bardot top planned for tomorrow: and, knowing me, THAT probably won’t be the last one, either. What can I say, I like a bare shoulder. I really hope that line doesn’t get me hits from shoulder fetishists or something. Let’s move on, shall we?
I bought this dress in an ASOS sale about three years ago, and I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never actually worn it – other than right now, I mean. In my defence, I have very few clothes that have never been worn: I’m not a believer in either dressing down, or in “keeping things for best”, because YOLO, but with this one, well, the opportunity just never presented itself. It’s very sad, I know. Because I rather suspected this would be the case when I first saw it, I bravely managed to resist buying it until the price had dropped to something ridiculous (I’m pretty sure it cost me around £25 or something…), which is how I managed to justify it to myself.
I firmly believe that clothes should be worn, and not just left to hang in the closet, like some kind of bizarre shopping trophy, but with that said, I ALSO believe that you find a bargain, and you REALLY love it, it doesn’t make much sense to leave it behind, just because you don’t have a reason to wear it rightthatverysecond. I mean, who knows when an occasion might present itself that’s just crying out for a purple bardot prom dress? My invitation to the ambassador’s ball might be in the post as I write this, for all I know! (Er, probably not, all things considered, but it’s good to be prepared, isn’t it?) And if all else fails, I haven’t decided what I’m wearing for New Year’s Eve yet, so there’s still hope…
All things considered, then, I think my only regret here is that I didn’t ALSO buy the yellow version they released. Or the pink. If anyone needs me, I’ll be over on eBay…
