spring outfits roundup

Outfits of the month, according to Pinterest

As March is almost over (Insert appropriately amazed “Where does all the time go?!” statement here…), here’s quick look at my most-shared outfits of the month on Pinterest

fruit print dress and field of daffodils

[Original post]

Most of this month’s outfits had a very “floral” theme, which I guess is appropriate for spring! I know Miranda Priestly would be all, “Florals? For springtime? Ground breaking,” but this dress (which was from River Island, years ago) actually has a FRUIT print, rather than a floral one, so suck it, Miranda…

This photo was taken at the end of March 2012, when we got an entire week of freakishly warm weather – it was actually warmer than it normally is in the middle of summer, which was so bizarre, because I spent a week in sun-dresses and bare legs, and then the next week I was back in my winter coat, and wondering if I had imagined all that sunshine. It was good while it lasted, though. People still talk about it to this day…

Yeah, OK, this one is actually floral-print, I’ll give you that…

ASOS gingham circle skirt

[Original post]

Gingham is one of my other favourite summer prints, and this is one of my very favourite skirts. It was from ASOS, and it’s also a few years old now, but I still wear it fairly often, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing it again, sooner or later.

full yellow skirt and high heels

In a departure from the prints theme, this bright yellow H&M skirt is another one I still wear on a regular basis, although this photo has just reminded me that I haven’t worn it in a while: must rectify that soon! It’s also reminded me that this photo was taken en-route to what turned out to be a pirate-themed restaurant in Edinburgh (there were skeletons hanging from the ceiling and everything. Not REAL ones, obviously. I mean, I’m ASSUMING they weren’t real – the service wasn’t THAT slow…): the waistband of my skirt was a little too big, so I was using one of my “magic buttons” to make it the right size. Well, the magic button may have made the skirt fit properly when I put it on, but if definitely didn’t fit after a plate of pasta, so I tried to remove the button, only to discover it was stuck. And that’s how Terry ended up having to release me from my skirt, in a restaurant surrounded by skeletons and pirate paraphernalia. True story.

ASOS floral circle skirt

Finally, yet another floral skirt! This one was also from ASOS, and I call it my “Michelle” skirt, because Michelle Obama has the exact same one. Well, not the EXACT same one, obviously – it would be pretty inconvenient for the First Lady and I to be sharing a skirt, but you know what I mean. I remember when this photo was taken, I was feeling really despondent, because our house sale had just fallen through, meaning that we thought we’d missed out on being able to buy the house we wanted. I’m sitting in that house right now, so I kinda wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self not to worry, because it all works out in the end. (While I was there, I’d tell her not to use TCP on that spot she gets in December of that year, because that just won’t end well AT ALL, seriously…)

  • I really love the fruit print dress and the gingham (they’re all pretty looks but those are my faves), the photos themselves are beautiful little Spring captures as well so I can see why they are appealing to people! Nice to read the stories behind them too 🙂

  • Your Pinterest followers have taste – let’s put it that way. And Steff is right – these are such perfect little captures of what makes Spring so special. And a sneak preview of why Summer is even more awesome (in a word: bare arms. I can’t even remember the times I didn’t wear a cardigan before. Although, don’t even get me started on tights…).

  • Also, forgot to say that the magic button could be the answer to all (ok some) of my problems! I can get that pair of gingham jeans to fit my waist properly again!!

Oh yes! That’s the same skirt as the FLOTUS. And I owned this River Island full dress in orange stripes. I wonder why they don’t release sundress anymore. I really appreciate the shell and lining are made of 100% cotton. It’s so light and comfortable even the temperature hits 32 degree Celsius.

And according to the date in the URL, you wore it last year, in May: spring outfit! I adore bird prints in general, and this one is really cute.

Nice spring outfits! And I love how you write a little about each one. Scotland looks like it’s very pretty in the spring.
