Coast ‘Luxe’ coat c/o Coast ♥ Topshop boots  ♥ New Look Belt ♥ vintage brooch (gift)  ♥ House of Harlow ‘Chelsea’ sunglasses

So, after pretending to be having a party for one in my living room last week, I “winterized” my dress with boots, tights and coats, and headed out into the freezing November afternoon.

About the coat: I was really lucky to get this, not just because it’s a seriously awesome coat, but because I totally messed up with the ordering process and managed to provide Sian, who contacted me on behalf of Coast, with my new address, but my old postcode. I say my “new” address: we’ve been living here for almost four months now (!), but apparently that’s not long enough to make me forget the habit of just rattling out a portion of my old address without even thinking about it. And the embarrassing thing (Well, ONE of the embarrassing things…) is, I DO actually know my postcode. No, really, I do. It’s my phone number I can’t remember. (Yes, I know landlines are terribly old fashioned these days, but we have one for our business, purely because people don’t seem to trust companies who only list a cellphone number.) Seriously, I couldn’t tell you my own business phone number right now if my life depended on it, I really couldn’t. I guess I could try to excuse this with the fact that I don’t ever have to call  myself, but people always seem to be asking me for it, so you’d think I’d know it by now. You’d think wrong, though. In fact, just last week I found myself typing my parents’ phone number into some online form or other, so if my parents suddenly start getting lots of strange calls from telemarketing companies, they’ll know who to blame. As usual.

(Actually, I DO call myself, as it happens. I call my own cellphone at least once per day, because that’s how often I put it down somewhere and completely forget where I put it. It’s amazing I’m still alive, really, isn’t it?)

Anyway! The coat! The coat is, as I mention, from Coast, who very kindly sent it back out to me after it was returned to them, having presumably gone to my old house first, and wondered why I wasn’t there to meet it. I picked this coat, partly because it was black, and I’ve been wearing quite a bit of black lately, but mostly because of the sheer drama of the oversized collar, which was pretty much made to pin things to, and also to snuggle up into on cold winter days. And let’s face it: they’re ALL cold winter days, aren’t they?

In other news, my fourth full skirt of December is now on its way to me, and this time I’m blaming Char and Emily for helping convince me that YES, I DO need a gold sequin midi skirt in my collection. In fairness, though, I think EVERYONE does, really. Don’t they?

  • New blog post is up, featuring my new coat from @Coast_Stores :

  • A very dramatic collar, indeed! It looks great on you, and of course you have to pin something to it! 🙂

PFFFFT EVERYONE needs a gold sequined midi skirt. It is law. (If only I could find ANY kind of gold skirt that would look good on me, haha…)
But I understand the whole address thing, I moved about a year and 5 months ago, so I’ve got all the information down pat, but 3 out of 6 of the characters of my postal code (the first 3 ones) are the exact same for where I’m living now and my old place…so I always double check the last 3 characters my postal code whenever I write it down.
I love the (hopefully faux?) leather belt on the coat!

  • That belt looks fab around the coat and the black is lovely with your colouring! (I hope we’re going to see the gold sequin skirt once it has arrived.)

  • YOU TOTALLY DO NEED IT!! I have a whole outfit planned around mine for a blogger meet up tomorrow now, and it’s all down to you for chatting about it yesterday 🙂 I’m quite loooking forward to giving it it’s first outing, actually.

Also, I was only thinking this morning about the time I used to have a landline at home (only to use up the end of an old business contract I no longer needed, so I got it relocated for free instead of having to pay a disconnection charge) and thinking that the only time it was ever used was for calling my phone, which I lose about a trillion times per day.

I love the coat. So very chic.

  • Oh, I know what you mean about the postcode, I always have to double check mine, I usually end up putting the first part of my new address, and the second part of my old address, mainly because the second part of both starts with a 2 and the old one just seems to roll off my tou… fingers.

I have no idea what my landline number is either, but I guess it doesn’t really matter as we don’t even have a phone plugged in! We did in the old house but the only people that called were people trying to sell us stuff.

You can never have too many skirts!

It’s cute the little girl thought you were Amy Pond, she is Scottish, too, ya know (in Dr Who, I don’t know about the real life actress!). The only person I’ve ever been compared to is an Australian porn star called Paula. The scary thing is she DOES look like me, I found that out the hard way when somebody from work sent me the link and I sat down to watch a ‘video’ with my housemates. Thinking she wouldn’t look like me at all. Talk about awkward! We had to go out and get drunk afterwards to try and forget.
