Where Should Betsy Live?

Everyone, this is Betsy, our brand new pink sofa of dreams:
pink sofa: DFS Betsey pink cuddler sofa

Betsy is what’s called a “cuddler sofa” – so, she’s a two seater… but only if the two people in question are comfortable having a bit of a cuddle. Awww!

She’s also, as you can see, pink and perfect – so, when the kind people at DFS asked if we thought we could find a home for her, my answer was an immediate, “HELL, YES!” … even although we already have two perfectly good sofas, which we have absolutely no intention of getting rid of.

“But where will it LIVE?” though, asked Terry, who was clearly having some trouble adjusting to the idea that this sofa is a “she”, not an “it”. It was, however, a reasonable question, under the circumstances. Now, the thing is, when this collaboration came up, I thought I knew EXACTLY where Betsy should live. But then, when she arrived (Just three weeks later, which REALLY impressed us: we’ve had to wait three MONTHS for sofa deliveries in the past, so we’d been thinking we’d be lucky to get this one by Christmas!), the delivery men brought her into the kitchen, and I was all, “HOLD THE PHONE”: because, seriously, doesn’t Besty look amazing in the kitchen?!

DFS Betsey pink two seater sofa in all-white kicthenBetsy looks amazing in the kitchen, guys. She might not, however, be totally practical there, so Terry moved her into the living room, until my dad could come round the next day and help him lift her to her final destination.

There was one problem, though:

Betsy looks kind of awesome in the living room, too. Well, I mean, she DOES, doesn’t she?

Of course, being a “cuddler” sofa, she’s probably a little too small to be totally useful here – and as we already have a giant corner sofa in this room, it could end up looking just like a room full of chairs. Which would be weird, right?

(Totally open to the idea that this would not be remotely weird, just FYI…)

Having established that Betsy was the kind of sofa who’d look good pretty much ANYWHERE, though, we decided to throw caution to the wind and try out some other locations. My parents were duly summoned to help out with the lifting and carrying, and, for the next couple of hours, this was our lives:

First of all, we put Betsy in the nursery:

By this point, we weren’t surprised to see that Betsy looked pretty sweet next to the grey wall. Now, the nursery DOES need a seat, and while, OK, yes, we’re having a boy, we’re not remotely into the whole, “Pink is only for girls!” thing, so it could work, no?

Then again, so could this:

pink DFS sofa in home officeIt’s Boss Girl Betsy, all ready for a hard day of – well, of not doing very much, really, on account of being a sofa – in the home office. Handy for all of those times when I get so uncomfortable at my desk (Thanks to the 3rd trimester, I hasten to add, not because of the desk: I can’t really sit ANYWHERE for very long right now without getting hideously uncomfortable) and just want collapse on something soft.

Now, as some of you might recall, we already have a sofa which normally sits in this space: our thinking here, however, is that we’d move that one to the nursery, and put this one here, where it works well with the pink and grey colour scheme we’ve got goin’ on in here.

So, as you can see, it’s not so much a question of “Where can we put this pink sofa?” as “Where CAN’T we put this pink sofa?”

I’m pretty sure I know what MY preferred solution is, but I’m curious to know what everyone else thinks, so tell me:

Where do YOU think Betsy should live?

[Thanks to DFS for collaborating on this post!]

She looks pretty fabulous everywhere….I feel like I need a Betsy in my life! What a wee stunner she is! I like the idea of you having a soft place to crash in every room, so I vote office! But if you’re really stuck….I’d be very happy to take her off your hands…..a problem shared and all that lol!!

You probably just have to buy like four more of her. Does she maybe come in white, grey and mint green as well? 😉

Freaking everywhere is where she should live! But seriously, I bet you would look all maternal goddess-y cuddling your little boy on the sofa in the nursery… So that’s my winning location!

Betsy is gorgeous! I vote for the nursery 😀

I vote for your bedroom and then you could move the current bedroom sofa to the nursery, although it looks fab in the nursery and the office and the kitchen and the living room.

Or, if you’re still unsure, I could take it off your hands lol.

I like Betsy in the kitchen, but she also works a treat in your office.

I vote for the nursery! She looks great in there, though she also looks good in the kitchen… and the bedroom… and basically everywhere. Ok I’m no help, this decision is too hard!

It’s pretty clear to me you are going to need another Betsy because she looks AWESOME everywhere!!! Really, what a lovely sofa!

I would put her in the bedroom as she goes so well will all the blush. They have a really lovely light grey colour as well, I think that would suit the kitchen better.

Now I have to persuade my husband we need a cuddler sofa 😀

Not that my opinion matters but I vote for the bedroom just so I don’t have to carry it back down the stairs 😀

I would actually recommend putting her in the kitchen! I understand that it’s maybe not the most practical in terms of the potential for spillages, but honestly I don’t think you’ll regret it! My mum recently put a mini chaise longue in her kitchen and it is literally so nice to have somewhere to curl up and have a cuppa whilst she is cooking. (And it’s a lot more comfortable than sitting at the table!)

Although, if you’re really struggling, I’d be more than happy to take her off your hands…. My flat is so tiny that a one-and-a-half-person sofa is probably exactly what I need….

Terry’s comment made me laugh out loud and I am on a crowded train. Oh well. Crazy lady laughing at her phone. I can’t really cast my vote, it looks awesome everywhere… Where do you think you would end up sitting in it more? It’s too beautiful and looks too comfortable not to be used a lot…

I think she looks so perfect in the nursery! I also love couches in kitchens though. Kitchens are such wonderful gathering places and a couch makes the experience even more welcoming and cozy. Though I do understand they can be in the way and a light color like pink could easily be stained in a kitchen (but not any more than a white sofa that gets eaten on). The real solution here is (obviously) to buy a few more Betsy’s and put her in every room 😉

Ah, but our cream sofa is leather, so it just wipes clean – this one is fabric!

LOL, Terry! And LOL that her name really IS Betsy! (I had to go look at all the colors and sizes, even though there is no chance I would ever ship even a small, charming sofa from the UK to Texas.) She comes in ash grey! and pale blue! And oyster! And – turquoise? So you actually could have Betsy and her sisters in the kitchen, nursery, living room, and home office also.

But I vote for the bedroom, too. OK, in part so Terry doesn’t have to move her again! Because seriously, she does look great everywhere you tried her out because she’s so compact.

P.S. Is that Betsy’s bigger cousin Bert in the bedroom here? https://foreveramber.co.uk/house-tour-master-bedroom

Because yes, Betsy fits beautifully into the space he vacated. And he should be able to hang out in the nursery for years and through quite a few changes of color scheme because he’s an adaptable neutral.

Nope, that’s a different sofa – there are details about that one in the post itself!

Kitchen-Sofa is a real thing here in Berlin. Just imagine how comfortable you will be sitting there spending time with your husband while he cooks!

I vote bedroom or nursery! Does your current bedroom sofa go well with the nursery rug? It seems like either sofa could work in either location!

I would put her wherever you’re going to need somewhere comfy to sit with the baby – in the kitchen might be the best place so you can sit and chat with Terry while he’s cooking?

I like Betsy (my mom’s name) in the living room and the nursery best. Although, I’d really need a full 360 of the living room to determine if it actually seemed to cluttered. Betsy cannot go in the kitchen – her skin is not food-friendly.

What a problem to have. 🙂 She really does look great everywhere you put her. My favourite is the office. Imagine your wee boy climbing up there for a cuddle or to read books when mama’s working. Betsy just looks at home, there. Love the name, Betsy. My sweet little blue VW Beatle was named Betsy. My car and your couch don’t have much in common, but I swear there really is something in a name. From one inanimate object namer to another. 🙂

I am just looking at purchasing the Betsy range for my living room, sofa, cuddler and heart shaped footstool, I am absolutely in love with the design but just wondered how comfortable it is……apparently it isn’t available to view in stores now so I will be buying on just looks and reviews. I am so tempted by its gorgeous looks 🙂

Sorry to ask a daft question but would you mind measuring the height of the legs from the floor to the base of the sofa please? MY sister is wanting to buy this sofa but her hall is only 75cm wide so if the legs are 10cm or more she should just be able to get it in her house lol. Many thanks PS it looks gorgeous and the pink one is what she wants
